Hi Dave,
The first bad winter motoring I had was when I had a Triumph Herald, quite a light car, equipped with Town and Country Tyres on the rear wheels. I was still living in Lancashire and working in North Wales and managed the snow quite well. Never lost a day's work.
When I moved to Derbyshire right on the edge of the peak district I had a company car, a Ford Escort, and while living quite high up and doing at least 500 miles a week I carried a shovel in the boot in winter and used it, together with a piece of carpet. It kept me going.
When the snow got too heavy I stayed at home and worked from there.
I now live in the Midlands where people use chains on their Range Rovers when there is an inch of snow!!
Regards,
Peter.
Wow, Town and Country tyres!! Thats a blast from the past. But I seem to remember almost all the cars had them on the rears.

Whilst realising that the awd x type is not a grand cherokee, I am hoping it copes reasonably well in the white stuff.

Hold that result, found one on eBay. Was a bit expensive but was needed. Thanks to all who viewed.

Probably warped discs.

New boards arrived from eBay, fitted, and paired. Works like new.
No coding was required.
Thankyou for the advice though.

Thankyou for reply.
Worked for me also.

If it's the same as my 08 model then you turn the key to position 1 then flip it back and forth between position 1 and 2 four times. It should beep or ping. When you hear this remove the key and press any button. If it pings or beeps this indicates a successful pairing.
If the fob refuses to pair you can get new circuit boards for various prices from a well known auction site. I paid £18 for mine and so far it works beautifully.
Did the new circuit boards require coding with Jaguar IDS/SDD software?
I have ordered new boards for mine and am interested to know.

Is it ok to fit new circuit boards from eBay in place of the original boards. Plan would be to do only one and see if it works.

Hi.
Just taken possession of a 2002 X type right hand drive in reasonable condition with exception of many of the "plastic" components, seem the high temp. has played havoc with it.
As you can imagine spare parts and info. is sparse -- - actually non existent.
I have a couple of immediate problems if some can assist:
1. the drivers side dipped beam (outer) HID globe is dead, can it be replaced or do I need to source a complete head lamp assemble?
2. the air/con. on/off / speed control switch is faulty - is it replaceable?
3.How do I cancel the auto door locking function ?
Would appreciate any guidance I can get
Thanks
Ian
For number 3. Search you tube. " de-activate automatic door lock Jaguar x type"
Worked for me.

New member (obviously) with an 2007 3.0 awd se estate.
Looking forward to my education in all things Jaguar.
Dashcam hardwired by Halfords = no remote locking!

This may be of little help, but when pairing my key fob the drivers door had to be open.
