  1. Hiya Gents This is more of a "what do you use" other than a what should I use thread.. I'm currently running a Mobil 1 FS 0w40 and she runs beautifully on the stuff, the motor is completely silent.. Anyone else running a different spec to the 5w30 in the manual? Thanks H
  2. You need the a code reader to tell you what the specific code is.. That will make diagnosis much simpler 😉
  3. 2005 - Jaguar S Type 3.0 SE - Bought when I was 15 for pittance still own it now and what a superb classic it is - My toy. 2001 Range Rover P38 Vogue 4.6 - Bought just after I passed my test in 2017 the ideal car for an Agricultural engineer, only issue was i'm consistently penniless, even now need to shift it on really, an expensive daily driver breaks almost weekly. 1991 Range Rover Classic 3.9 Manual bought as a fix and quick sale, made some good cash on that, which financed my next purchase 2000 Land Rover Discovery II TD5 probably the slowest and most uneconomical car I've owned. managed 5000 miles before shattering it's flexplate. Currently sorn'd/ 1995 Land Rover Discovery I 3.9 LPG it did manage 3mpg on Gas which was horrific, petrol consumption could be measured in yards, had it for 2 months 2007 Ford Fiesta "Climate" 1.4 bought as a sensible daily, far too boring so I sold it after 3 weeks! Thats it so far!
  4. my old girl 😉 She does brighten up the work car park 😉 2005 3.0 SE - Radiance Red with Champagne interior + the high lux pack which gives all kinds of goodies! Had her for a good while now..
  5. New high!! 😉 Not that i'm MPG hunting... God i love driving this car!! 😎
  6. The wood in the S type is genuine with a heavy lacquer, if you remove a piece of trim you'll see 😉 I prefer the darker Burl walnut offered with the 2005 Hi lux pack, which mine fortunately has, As for the engine the Crankshaft and block is indeed ford, however everything above it is Jaguar/Cosworth 😉 Economy on mine is quite good my 260hp 3.0 manages 33mpg quite easily, considering i do a fair bit of A road flying and town crawling 🙂 Mine has had a Celtic stage 1 "tune up" to 260hp with the redline moved to 7400rpm the AJ30 is an off square V6 which means they love to rev and when mine drops a few cogs it flies, even in stock form. And on the Motorway at a steady 70 she'll do 40mpg 😉 I considered many cars before buying my S type, the 75 being among them, I found personally the S was a nicer cruiser with great handling and a very supple ride.. Whereas the 75 had a good ride but the handling was quite rock and roll 😉 The ZT had the opposite effect, harsh ride and good handling 🙂 😞 The KV6 unit was nice, but thinking about the potential problems was enough of an eye opener, the AJV6 having a much better almost bullet proof reputation gives piece of mind
  7. Yes,, Not too difficult.. https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=68460 HTH
  8. You can retrofit cruise control quite easily IIRC 😉 I'm constantly surprised by the old girls economy 😉
  9. Was doing some errands today, and decided to fill her up with some of Esso;s finest and go a for a cruise in the country.. Considering i was crawling behind cyclists for a good while i;d say what i got from that journey wasn't too bad 3.0 V6 anyone else get those figures? I'm not really a person who likes to get around fast, but i put some decent right foot in 😉
  10. Hello gents/ladies 😎 My old S has developed an odd issue, it started around 5 months ago just after the MOT 😉 The Handbrake and "cruise not available" warning come on... Thinking it was the battery i fitted a new'un. 🙂 And it was fine, for a while, i pulled into a petrol station threw £30 of Esso's finest in it, upon leaving I hit a series of potholes, and "beep" handbrake and cruise fault reappears. 🙄 Came home and disconnected the battery and left it for 5 minutes, upon reconnecting it all is well.. 😅 I've applied the P brake in excess of 40 times, in a vain effort to re create a fault, however nothing has surfaced.. Haven't been out on the road since clearing the faults though. Some say the module is at fault, but surely it would be a permanent problem if that was the case? Many thanks H
  11. Thank you Peter 🤓 My Gearbox has been playing up since i bought her, the choice is rebuild the current gearbox at great expense, or convert to manual, at great expense! torn 50/50. H
  12. Good evening gents.. I have a 2005 S type SE i bought her when i turned 16 as a cheap project knocking 20 now i'm using her, the one constant issue is the ZF Transmission is in poor conditioon, i serviced it with the correct kit, being that i only drained 3 litres of dark fluid, i'd say the damage is more than skin deep.. She flares between 1-2 when cold and if you brake hard and then immediately give her some throttle it seems to drop into Neutral and then straight back to drive with a thump 😉 I do love the ZF box however the yearn for a manual conversion is getting stronger, i'm not a racer, but i like the connection a manual gives you to the car.. Obviously it would be easier to buy a manual one, but mine has had a lot of blood sweat and tears into it and i want to keep the old girl on the road.. And i can't think of a better way to give a car a better lease of life than adding a manual.. Obviously i need. Transmission Pedal box Slave cylinder Gearbox mount Prop shaft etc Anyone done it? Any wisdom?
  13. Thank you. Great to be here! 😉 🙂
  14. Evening gents. I have an S Type 2005. She is fitted with the "High Luxury Pack" which allegedly is the Top of the pops in regards to S type interiors. My S is a Project not a daily so i tend to spend my time looking for parts to restore or add on just for that extra "ya know" 😉 , and my drivers seat has a bit of wear, long story short I scoured the classifieds for months trying to find a set of seats that are the same as mine, Luckily i snagged a set to restore, as they're in pretty poor condition! keeps me busy!! Just curious to know if any other S type owners have a similar interior.. I haven't found another car recently for sale with the interior combo, the last car was a 2.7d SE on Gumbush a few months ago, wonder why it wasn't widely spec'd? 'tis a lovely place to be!!
  15. There are 2 types IIRC. Best way is to crawl underneath and have a look at your current one. H
