  1. If that possible sounds like a better option
  2. Might not like this answer, but spoke to a friend who said you may need to remove the door to get it fixed. Can access the bolts to do this by opening the front door. Others may have a better way...
  3. I would get someone to come to you to empty the car of fuel. As driven, would see if they can completely flush the system out as petrol in a diesel can do more damage than the other way around. (Although fuel nozzle stop you putting diesel in a petrol)
  4. Try this video Looks like most of it is clipped on
  5. Hi Ian, sounds like you are making good progress. Would tend to agree given the number of faults it would suggest the control unit. Not experienced this problem, so other maybe able to give you more confidence as suspect those units are not cheap. Replaced two on an SLK recently, bought used but needed to match up codes to make sure did not need reprogramming and everything work. Again, dont know if the XF has the same type of setup.
  6. You need to rename your actual phone I think, then it will automatically name it in your jag.

    Dead XF

Glad it is sorted. Main different with the newer one is better entertainment system, although I found it has more glitches that the old one and better fuel economy. I prefer the wiggly likes at rear, but have the newer looking front which I also prefer. Other than that not much in it apart from depreciation 🤣
  8. Dont leave it, as you rightly say too many electrics in the boot, can cause mayhem sadly 😔
  9. Thats a bummer, I suspect it is related somehow, but unless they somehow share the same component somewhere, suspect the dealer will charge 😔
  10. Probably would try myself for that cost 😕
  11. Wow 500 is steep, bet it not that hard to change unless it needs some form of programming.
  12. Not seen or heard of this on an XF but maybe better deleting post and putting in the XJ section for a better response.
  13. Different car as a merc but similar issue. It normally a sensor somewhere that faulty and if one goes, it triggers a collection of errors like abs, stability control as they all connected. In the merc is was steering wheel sensor, probably not helpful to locate problem but my guess is a sensor. Not aware of common sensor faults on these cars or if they are easy to access, usually simple to change yourself. Suspect tyre presseure is seperate I belive to the cluster above.
  14. Someone can confirm but I thought that was a service you have to subscribe too, think it came free with the car when new for 3 years.
  15. Fair point, not heard of this problem before, will see if I can find any wiring maps.
  16. As far as I am aware they all move together. Sounds like potentially a faulty wire somewhere maybe.
  17. Hi, I normally make sure I hear the beeps which means it is fully locked up. I also have a keyless wallet for both keys to prevent the signal being detected by the car once locked up. Not sure on the range but it is a good few metres, plus stops people using devices to pick up your signal to steal your car. If you get a wallet, drop the key inside, it should stop you opening the door even standing next to the car.
  18. Unless it has been updated in the last two years, I personally found it awful
  19. If not the aux, could be a small oil leak if blue smoke. Get some degreaser and clean up the dirt around your engine where you think it coming from and any drips underneath. Only needs to be tiny when engine is warm to smoke.
  20. Does sound like some sort of wiring/electrical fault, if no water in the usual places, may need a auto electrician to do some diagnostics on it unless you are handy yourself.
  21. Sadly most modern cars are like this now, royal pain
  22. In the UK a lot of locksmiths can now code car keys for a lot cheaper than the dealers and there are mobile locksmith that have kit. Not sure that helps much as looks like you are in the US at all.
  23. Battery is probably on its way out, it got worse last winter for me, this winter a lot worse so just changed mine, all problems gone away.
