If you put the wheel on full lock and look behind you should be able to see it.
If not then it may be behind the wheel arch liner at the forward end.
-
If it’s not behind the headlight then look at the one in the driver’s side wheel well, it may well be close to falling off.
It should be at 12’o clock on the frame behind the wheel.

Here’s how to remove the bumper should you need to.

Change the front right sensor, it’s defective.

Slam panel vents is the usual entry point. Have a look behind the trim. Also advisable to drill a drain hole in the bottom of the well.

There isn’t one. Just follow this video;

It may help if you told us the year of the car.

A code reader will tell you where to look first and may save you spending on things you may not need.😉

Well here’s a quandary, on the next morning there were no errors and all was well. I checked the battery at work again and it was 12.48.
So is it a duff battery still? I appreciate it’s still not high enough but 0.5 higher than the previous dayThe more you drive it the more charge will go into the battery. The fact you now have no warnings is proof of low voltage. Before you go spending on a new battery, give your existing one a full charge. If it still loses voltage then by all means replace it.

If it was the speaker then the cable would go direct to the module and the speaker under the parcel shelf. If you’re saying the cable goes behind the bumper then there is some jiggerypokery going on.

1. Turn ignition key to position one.
2. Release the retaining tang. (This is a silver pin on the side of the assembly that needs to be pushed in.)
3. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder.

It is a good idea to add your S-type details to your group signature including the partial vin number. This way we all know what model and year yiu are asking about.
See my signature below for an example.Attachments

I have checked it with a voltmeter from off and the charge was 11.98 and I read its meant to be around 12.6V
That’ll do it, far too low. Fully charged should read 12.8v.

I am hoping all of these are related as I've got loads of life stuff going on, and this on top is stressing me out as well.
In recent weeks:
- I had the stereo screen getting stuck occasionally at the Jaguar logo
- The trip meter has reset
- The clock has reset
- A red fault on startup stating "Hold foot brake and park brake together"
- A yellow fault on startup stating "Gearbox fault"
The gearbox fault showed this morning but everything works fine.
Does this all sound very much battery related? I hope its as simple as that?
The first thing to do is fully charge the battery and then see what happens. After that you’ll need to have the codes read to see what the car is saying is wrong.

Is it safe to trickle charge my 2005 XJ battery in place please?
Thanks
Yes you can Rob. As you have no BMS fitted to your car you can attach direct to the battery though it is best practice to connect the negative of the charger to a suitable ground point.

Hi
Performance brakes or racing brake are the Brembo brakes that were fitted
same brembo racing brakes as fitted to my S-type R
cheers
Joe
Incorrect information. Wrt to the brakes, I haven't come across 5.0 XKs with the 5.0 XKR brakes as standard. The sizes are noticably different 355mm to 380 mm at the front. I think the rear is an even bigger difference.
It is possible that:- Performance = 355 mm (taken from the 4.2 XKR)
- Super Performance = 380 mm (standard on almost all 5.0 R models without carbon brakes)
Just measure them and it should be fairly clear what you have/need to replace with.
Non of which are Brembos.

Get hold of an aircon bomb and try that. If that doesn’t cure it then further investigation is required.

First and foremost, charge the battery and then see what happens. You should also consider investing in a code reader, when you think how much they charge, having your own will pay for itself after the first use.
