  1. Stan,

Being in God's waiting room and living in the sticks makes my insurance cheap, but I don't really see why I should have to pay more road tax than a lot of other people who do more miles than me .

Putting it on the fuel would be the fairest way .

So being perverse I bought a car with a 6.3 litre engine .

    ATB,

    Trevor

  2. Trevor,

I had to wait longer than that in May when I sold my XJ Superpsort and got the XKR .

Sold the XKR under the new tax system ten days ago, haven't got a refund yet ( but to be fair not really expecting it this side of Christmas ) .

But I agree with you, if they can now take the money instantly, why can't they do the same with repayment ?

    ATB,

    Trevor (the old one)

  3. With my XJ Supersport ( 2012)I liked the comfort, TV's, speed. 20 speaker 1200 watt audio system, and sheer luxury .

Downside, it was pig ugly, and too big for the Devon roads .

With my XKR 5 litre supercharged (2012) , I liked the colour, the acceleration ,and the admiring glances .

    Downside;

Having to call out the breakdown services twice in two days, and Jaguar not being able to get the  (German made) part this side of Christmas .

Being lied to by the dealership , and the sheer arrogance of the customer relations people at Jaguar themselves .

    ATB,

    Trevor

  4. Welcome gary,

I would say the problem is nothing to worry about.

I presume you have tried the spare key, if so, the eliminates a dodgy battery in the key fob.

The next thing I would do is disconnect the battery for ten minutes, this allows everything to reset itself .

If the problem still persists, I would check the state of the battery itself , the strange " happenings" can often occur when the battery is on the wane .

But do not despair, the problem is obviously trivial, and the XF is a fine car that will give you much pleasure .

    ATB,

    Trevor

  5. Sean,

I don't think there seems to be any particular problems with them.

They (as most more recent Jags) seem to benefit from a decent battery,

Why not go for the 5 litre XKR ( although I think the year(s) you want to get will be the 4.2 engine)? this really pees the Aston Martin owners off !

I think the XK is a cracking looking car , and along with the S type is the best looking out of all the Jags in my opinion , and shouldn't give you any trouble.

Something like this would be a cracking car , this is just an example from an expensive garage.

  6. Kenny,

Nearly bought the three litre version F type , but got the 5 litre XKR instead as it was faster.

I was going to wait for the 5 litre F Type, but things move on, and I'll have a look at the AMG GT next year when it's out, or might just get a newer AMG saloon, but I shall see .

    ATB,

    Trevor
