Servicing
I have heard of them, David, but I have never used them. I did hear of someone though who was not very pleased with their work. I use the same mobile mechanic that I have used for 12 years. Peter.

Wheels
That is very strange Barry. What size wheels are you looking for? The wheels on my car are the standard s type wheels - 245 40 18". You can check the exact specification of your car as it came from the factory by getting on to a particular site : VinDecoderz.com It will give you the detail of the wheels -- mine read -- 8.0 X 18 WHEEL SPORT STYLE 0 That might assist. Google will /should also tell you what those wheels look like. Regards, Peter.

Buying an S Type what should I look for?
Hi Gary, and welcome to the Club. The s type is a very nice car both in its looks and its performance, and fuel consumption is not over the top for a big heavy car. A big plus in the car you are looking at is it's full service history, and you will be able to check things like the age of the battery. With my s type being on of latest produced and also a diesel, I have personally not come across any major issues myself. I have heard that members have checked the condition of the sills and found elements of rust. Other than that, if the car is nice and straight and all the electrics are working you should have a good car. The club members are a friendly and helpful group of people and will also off good advice. Regards, Peter.

Jaguar s type mk 2 1965 advice needed on re-commisioning
Hi Dave, The only way to contact Leo is to send him a PM, as he doesn't give an email address on his contact details. As a moderator I don't have access to personal details of members other than on the Member's profile. Check out Leo's profile for anything that might point you in his direction. Regards, Peter.

Hi Barry, The only other thing I can think of is that an air hose somewhere has come off. Peter.

Servicing
Hi Dave, Personally, I would not use a main Jaguar dealer as £140 an hour is a bit steep. A good independent garage [there is a list in the Jaguar Owners Lounge] will do the same job but cheaper. The Terraclean worked wonders with my2.7diesel, so I would be inclined to include it in a service. The EGR valves are a nuisance, but I had Code P0402 come up this morning but it was solved by a burst on the A38 this morning keeping the car in third gear and keeping the revs at 4000. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

volume control
Hi Steve and welcome to the Club. Strange radio problem! Try resetting the sound controls via the touchscreen if fitted. Otherwise, there will be some x type owners who might have an answer. Regards, Peter.

x type se
Hi David and welcome to the Club. I had the same transition as yourself, having had a Rover Sterling for over 11 years and went to a X type SE [petrol] before getting my s type when some scroats carjacked the X type. Yes, there are loads of bells and whistles on Jaguars, but the first thing you should remember is that they are performance cars and do like performance fuel, so forget the cheap stuff and get the top diesel fuel from the forecourts. The Club members are a friendly group of people and will assist whenever they can. Enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.

New member saying hello
Hi Paul and welcome to the club. I am not an engineer, but I am fairly certain than an adjustment is required. I usually get my tyres fitted by Halfords and always have the tracking checked, so I would have thought that the tyre fitter should have noticed. There might be others more expert than me will assist. Regards, Peter. A quick edit, Paul. Apparently the rear camber is non adjustable, but should the control arms be wearing or loose some inner wear on the tyre. I would have the rear end checked out at a good independent garage.

X-type startup problems
Yes, Andy, a failing battery usually allows the car to operate by shutting down unnecessary items. I think that Halfords offer a five year guarantee on some batteries. Peter.

Replacement key and fob.
Hi Steve, An expensive of getting a new key fob is to go to a Jaguar Main Dealer. There are plenty of good places --- auto electricians etc -- which you will find by googling. Recently a member was looking for the same thing as you and was able to get a new on quite easily, Regards, Peter.

X-type startup problems
I think it is, Andy. At a guess it sounds like the starter motor. There could be other guesses, though! Regards, Peter.

New XF Gear selector problems
Welcome to the Club Kevin. I don't know a lot about the XF gear change selector, as my s type has just the old fashioned gear lever with the Jaguar J gate arrangement. I would be inclined to call into the dealer -- main dealer ? - as it is under warranty. Regards, Peter.

X-type startup problems
Hi Andy, and welcome to the club. The diesel engines fitted in most cars , while very economical and reliable, do need a certain amount of cosseting. One of the things it does need is top fuel and a good clean out of the fuel system every now and then. I am not an engineer so I look for the easiest was out of an issue. I think that what is needed for your car is a Terraclean service, which will cost about £120 and will improve both performance and mpg. You can google the nearest provider by going to the Terraclean site. Also I would give the air filter a clean out, and replace with a genuine Jaguar part [they are quite cheap] Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

X Type Auto Box Has Lost Reverse
Hi Peter, I have had a look around and a reconditioned gearbox costs between £500 and about £750. There are various sites you can google. Regards, Peter

X Type Auto Box Has Lost Reverse
Hi Peter, and welcome to the club. I have never come across this issue before, but there could be a member who has. A new/reconditioned box is a touch expensive. I will have a look at what is around and get back. Regards Peter.

Wheels
Hi Barry, Is it possible that the calipers are not the original ones fitted by Jaguar and that the wheels and calipers came as a set. I keep a file on the cars I have owned with every receipt for all items bought and used. I know it sound a bit of overkill, but have found it very useful on several occasions to do with warranties. Regards, Peter.

Hi Barry, and Welcome to the Club. Do you keep the climate control on auto as said in the handbook? Plus, do you keep all the air vents in the open position? And does the "Defrost" button work quickly? These may seem daft questions, but sometimes you miss the obvious. Regards, Peter.

S typwe Navigation system update.
Hi Steve, A pity about that. There was a facelift on the s type around then and the SatNav must've been part of it. Regards, Peter.

S typwe Navigation system update.
Hi Steve and welcome to the club. Thee are several sites you can google for a Sat Nav disc. The one in my s type was a 2006 disc and I got a 2012/13 disc for £29 from a company called SatNav Updates. I cannot tell you the Jag part number of the old one as I loaned it to another member who has not returned it and disappeared. My new one is a DENSO disc. But if you take out the disc and put it back after a few minutes the display should tell you what year of disc it is. Regards Peter.
