  1. I have found the connection point -- easy on an S Type. I just hope that I never get any malfunction lights on for a while, as the engine has only done 31k miles. I had new Jaguar genuine mud flaps/splash guards fitted yesterday bought from DMG who are quite near and which were £7 cheaper than the local Jaguar dealer, who also quoted £69 to fit them. My mechanic charged £20 and he came here to do the job!
  2. It might be too late for you, but you can get a Winged Jaguar boot badge from the Black Country Metalworks Ltd for a reasonable £29.99.
  3. Ordered from eBay today - Engine code scanner.

  5. That is a good idea, Trevor. I will order one on Payday next Friday.
  6. This happened to me on my x type. I had a technician locate the sensor that was faulty which cost £35. It was the outer rear driver's side. It was never replaced due to my x type being stolen shortly after.I think the sensor itself costs about £15. Good luck.
  7. Thanks, Trevor, that's a thought. It was the EGR valve, but the technician did say that the light will probably go off. It did on the 12 mile drive back from the dealer. So now it is wait and see. The mechanic who has been doing all my servicing for the last 12 years might have a reader, but I couldn't get hold of him today. Peter.
  8. This morning the amber light came on indicating an engine malfunction. I have booked my S type diesel into a local Jaguar dealer to find the problem. The biggest problem is £69 for half an hour! The car is running beautifully and all seems well otherwise.
  9. I'm only 12 miles away, so it is easy for me. I'm going on the Saturday, will park at the railway station and pay my £18.50 on the door.
  10. Only a car!! It is a bit like saying that Rugby League is only a game.
  11. Sometimes. But it does not worry me, as the Jaguar car knows best what it is doing. I have been driving cars for 50 years from Escort Mk 1 onwards and have found that you do not look after a Jaguar -- just feed it care and attention and it will look after you.
  12. This is on for three days starting 15th November at the NEC. Sounds like a cracking day out. Is anyone going?
  13. I have an S type Diesel 2007 SE model. It does exactly the same, I took it in to the main dealers and they regassed the climate control. It still does it They said exactly what Trevor said. Having said that, the Climate control works very well indeed, and a little music on the Radio works wonders.
  14. The promised hike in insurance premium is an interesting fact. My x type was stolen off my drive - I had left the key in for less than a minute - and after some discussion during which I mentioned that the police thought that I was under observation -- there were two people involved -- and that I should be thankful I wasn't dragged out of the car as someone was in the locality the month before, the insurance settled the claim. My insurance had been renewed as from the day before the theft. I await the insurance quote which will apply from the 6th June which will put a bit of a damper on my 80th Birthday.
  15. Mine came this morning. Thanks Trevor. It would be on the car now, but it is raining!
  16. You might have to check if there any rules about the height of kerbs. There is not much space over a kerb at the front of an s Type. I have nearly been caught out a few times, and indeed was with a Rover some years ago.
  17. Thanks Trevor. Good tyres are vital in any car, not just performance cars.
  18. I was 77 when I bought my first Jaguar, a Radiance Red X Type 2.5 litre AWD. When I was car -jacked I bought an S-Type in Indigo blue with the 2.7 Diesel engine. As you say, well worth waiting for.
  19. I have had the same mechanic servicing my car for over 10 years, and he says A Jaguar is a Jaguar. He liked my x type, but thinks that my s -type is a lovely car and brilliant to drive.

Jaguar x type - in Radiance Red 2.5l AWD SE Petrol. Got car jacked off my drive. Jaguar S type 2.7L Diesel SE Auto. My pride and joy. Beautiful car, and at almost 80, probably the last car I will own.
  21. My S Type lives with me in Sutton Coldfield, and takes me to Widnes to watch the Vikings play Rugby League for all home games.
  22. There are plenty around, but with big mileages. I got an s type in June with 48k on the clock but it cost £9.500. But the diesel is very quiet and with great acceleration, and the mpg is brilliant. If you keep the revs under 2000 you should get over 45mpg on a long run.
