Friendly Club.
Hi All, This is a friendly club. Exchanges of opinion can be done without name calling. There was a post about a certain gentleman which was descending into a rather childish argument. I have deleted it. This is only the second topic to which I have done this. The duty of a Moderator is a simple one ---- keep the peace. Regards, Peter.

Headlight unit and MOT fail
Hi Robert, The attempt to repair is the key to the problem. If you know when it was done, and it was before the MOT, then the MOT is suspect. It might have been OK at the time of the last MOT and the attempt to repair might have been just before you bought the car. When I have bought a car, I have always asked for a MOT to be done before I take the car away. Regards, Peter.

Just Google "David Manners Group", Jimmy. I have used them several times and they are quite good, and their site is comprehensive. Regards, Peter.

*Daimler sovereign -> URGENT HELP WANTED !!
Hi Mike, I am no engineer, -- former accountant -- so I look for the cheapest option first. I would try a squirt of WD40, or similar product, and see how it goes. Let us know if it works. Regards, Peter.

what do you use on your car
I had my car given a Pure Guard paint treatment, and I have never waxed it in the 21 months I have had it. It is supposed to last three years, but I don't think it will, so I will be spending some time doing a thorough clean and polish in the near future. Peter.

Hello from Ireland
Welcome to the Club, Mike. There are not many members in Ireland, but I will look out for you when I am there in June. Regards, Peter.

euro 3 or 4 ?
Hi Jimmy, I don't think that Euro 4 altered any bits involving the engine on Jaguar/Ford cars, but I think you could check that by going to a parts Supplier -- David Manners Group, for instance -- and looking up the part. The website is a good one. Regards, Peter.

nows the time to buy
A 2 year warranty is very good. My wife likes the XF Sportbrake, but I don't think I can get her to prise enough cash out of the coffers. Plus the fact that one of my sons will always want to borrow it when he goes on holiday! The good news is that my s type is going beautifully! Peter.

Sat nav upgrade
Hi Russell, and welcome to the club. I have the same Sat Nav disc as you, and Doris has never let me down yet. Regards, Peter.

Air conditioning
Hi Robert, It sounds a bit like needing a regass. Also you can speed up the fan and see how it goes. Peter.

cam belt
Hi Ron, I am unsure about the X Type, but the s type Diesel has a cam belt which should be changed at 105k. Peter.

local meets across the uk
Phill, I am very glad that I do not have to make that journey any more. I never liked staying over before or after a meeting and always preferred to drive there and back in a day. I used the Heads of the Valley road more often! Regards, Peter.

local meets across the uk
They don't like cars in Port Talbot, Phillip, I parked my car in the Public Car park overnight when I had a meeting at the steelworks and was staying in a B&B without a car park. When I went to get my car at 7.30 am loads of market traders were putting up stalls around it. It took a little persuasion and the promise that I would be moving my car whatever , that they moved some stalls to let me out. Peter.

Recommended independent garages
Hi Rob, and welcome to the club. There is a list of independent garages recommended by members in the Jaguar Owners Lounge. There is one that is spoken very highly of in Doncaster. Meanwhile, enjoy your Jaguar, and I hope you enjoy the Club also. Regards, Peter.

what was yours
The first car I owned was a Triumph Herald, which died of terminal rust when it was a mere 6 years old with 99600 on the clock, with a top speed of 86 mph from a 1200cc engine. I then bought an Austin A40 Farina, with a 998cc engine and a top speed of 65 mph! Peter.

hi
Hi Andrew, and welcome to the club. I used to have a 2.5 AWD x type, and I found it a great fast and agile car, which you will enjoy. Regards, Peter.

X type
Welcome to the Club, Steve. I used to have a 2005 X Type but with the 2.5 Petrol engine. A very nice and quick car with great roadholding. Best advice is to enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards, Peter.

18" Wheel Rims
Hi Ron, i used to have a Rover Sterling 1999 model which was fitted with the standard alloys - top spec - that were on that model. The spare wheel was a steel one, which was only used once for several hours. But it was 15 years ago. regards, Peter.

what was yours
The first car I ever sat in was a Rolls Royce, and it came to our terraced house to pick me and my grandfather up to take us to the local Rugby League match in September 1945. A beautiful black car with plenty of room in the back, as it was a hearse, and the owner was the local undertaker who was a friend of my grandfather. Peter.

erratic rev counter
Welcome to the club, Nigel. I have never come across this issue, but I am guessing it could be a poor connection or an iffy fuse. Those with electrical knowledge will also be able to help. Regards, Peter.

rear shockers
Hi Jimmy, The David Manners Group is quite good for new genuine parts. It could also be useful to have a look on eBay to see what is around. Peter.

local meets across the uk
Hi Geoff, I tried to organise a meet last September at Gaydon, but only 5 members were interested, and four of them were quite a fair drive away. I thought it was a good venue, and if a total of 30 people would be attending there would be a good discount on the entry fee, plus dedicated parking etc. The West Midlands is halfway to /from everywhere and a Summer Meet would be great. Regards, Peter.
