  1. Hi David, I think this one of those questions you have to ask yourself, how much more is it going to cost to have the full upgrade, against a new engine, if you only have the new tensioners done and one of the other parts fail, it will have been a n even more expense. Could be an idea to go to another dealer for third opinion, what has the garage said who carries out your usual maintenance. I know I have not been much help here, if I was in your shoes, I would have the work carried out, but that could be me just being over cautious, good luck.
  2. Sorry to hear that, the cats are dear enough to run without extra expense.
  3. It could have been the problem, but it has to be your decision, could be an idea to take the car back to who carried out the work, explain what happened and that the loom hadn't been connected, they may have missed something else, so may check it over free of charge, hopefully fault has been resolved, just take it easy in the next few weeks, good luck. Alan
  4. Hi Mark, How long ago was the work carried out, as you could contact the place that carried out the work, could be a loose wire that needs fixing, or earth wire needs securing, would not want the same happening again. Alan
  5. Welcome Steven, Enjoy your new cat and the forum. :D
  6. Hi Mark, Has the car done this before or has it been recently serviced or any work carried out, I would check over for loose wiring, you could also check in the XJ part of the forum to see if any other owners have had similar problems, good luck.
  7. Hi John, I would contact a few places that buy No. plates to see what they would offer you, then go round to a couple of dealers to see what they would offer you with the plate and work from there, good luck.
  8. Welcome Dale, Look forward to seeing pics of your car, love the E-type, if it was to be marketed today, I reckon it would still be a big seller, lovely cars, enjoy your cat and the forum. :D
  9. Welcome Rhett, did you buy the car from a dealer or privately, I would take it back either way, as the seller would have known there was a problem, but as always check every button, window, lights etc and take on 2 or 3 test drives if you are not sure, enjoy your new cat. :D .
  10. Would like to wish Everybody a HAPPY NEW YEAR, have a good one. :D
  11. I would have had a chat with the garage, as their diagnosis was wrong, I gather it was not a Jag main dealer
  12. Welcome James, I had a 59 plate Scooby WRX a couple of years ago, buying your car I would get one with fsh, hpi checked etc, the only other thing I would say is to check with company car taxes as the government are changing them again on 6 Apr 2012 Have you thought about leasing which will include road tax etc and I am not sure if you claim tax refund against this, good luck with your new car and enjoy the forum. Alan :D
  13. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to One and All, have a Good One. :D
  14. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Steve and Tina, may all your wishes come true, also goes for everybody else on the Jaguar Owners Club. :D

  17. Welcome David, Nice cars, enjoy the forum. :D
  18. Hi David, If you check something like Kwik-fit site you should be able to get an idea of the tyres you require, good luck.
  19. Hi David, If the car has a full service history, you could contact the garage/s before as this would be recorded, the service book will have the dealers details on it, good luck.
  20. Welcome Mark, We will all look forward to reading about your experiences, enjoy your new cat and enjoy the forum.
  21. Welcome Melvyn, Good luck with sale of your car, this part of the forum is for welcomes, there is a part of the forum for the sale of your car.
  22. Tina and I would like to be included in to this.
  23. Welcome Ross and good luck with your degree, cannot speak for everyone, reasons that owners like Jags are they beautiful cars, that ooze luxury with lots of gadgets, comfortable to drive, you can drive long journeys in a Jaguar and still feel relaxed when you reach your destination, they bring a smile on your face, cost a bit more to keep than your average car, but most owners endure this, but would love parts and servicing to be cheaper. Hope this has helped, I am sure other members will give you some feedback. Alan
