  1. Apparently yes. They are an independent garage with a Jaguar Trained Technician. It is going in again for a more in depth fault finding.
  2. Just had my car, XJ L Autobiography in the garage as the service indicator keeps coming in and counting down very quickly. The garage have said this is due to abnormal oil dilution due to the DPF regen not performing properly. The car is driven on both long and short journeys. It has only done 58000. Any suggestions please as to what might be causing this?

  4. An odd problem. My XJ L has electric door window blinds fitted. The rear passenger nearside one goes up but then immediately goes down. Any suggestions.

The whole of anything Jaguar related to JLR is down due to the hack. Should be back to normal I about 2 weeks we are told.
  6. Does anyone know where the TCU battery is and how to access it for an x351?
  7. SOS SYSTEM LIMITED FUNCTIONALITY I am informed that the TCU battery needs replacing on my XJ x351. Does anyone know where it is located please?
  8. Dribbling….a sure sign of old age…
  9. Hi All, I have a black Jaguar XJ (x351- 2016) Portfolio. The C-Pillar external trim covers have faded to almost a dull matt dark grey. does anyone know why they have gone like this and where I can get some new ones? Many thanks, Clive
  10. How Serious is the Code? The problems stemming from a P0781 OBD2 trouble code typically start out small, then they can escalate very quickly as the damage progresses. Symptoms Symptoms of a P0781 include: Check engine light Hard or erratic shifts Slipping between 1st and 2nd gears Complete failure to complete the 1-2 shift Reduced fuel economy Overheating Limp Mode Causes Low transmission fluid Dirty transmission fluid / filter Frayed wiring / damaged connectors Failed 1-2 shift solenoid Failed transmission pump Pressure blockage Valve body issue TCM or ECU failure
  11. Alex, An excellent article and one I am sure those without TPMS fitted will fancy a go at. All we need now is a genius like you to come up with how to upgrade from 3G to 4G…. Thanks!
  12. Realistically you should expect to get 35-40mpg and this is, as always, depending on your driving style.
  13. P.S. try this site: https://www.desperateseller.co.uk/cheap-cars/jaguar/xf/under/5000
  14. In my opinion you could, for that money, do better than a Luxury model. Search a little harder and find at least a Premium Luxury model or even the Portfolio. A later model would also be better and if you can stretch to it get a face lift model as the software and displays are far better. Good ones are about and going cheap, between 5-10k. I know this is slightly over your budget but you wont regret it.
  15. This is a common and well known issue and is most likely the butterfly valve that switches from LP Turbo to HP Turbo. The pin corrodes, Its a relatively simple fix and cheap too.
  16. The only advice I would give on this is to get it fitted professionally.
  17. There is a choice to de select this option in the on screen menus. Normally in the Driving Assistance menu.
  18. I don’t but interested in what performance improvements are had.
  19. James, From my experience when my rear light cluster became unserviceable due to water ingress due to a failed seal. I was informed that as the unit is supplied and fitted as a sealed non user serviceable unit then the only option is to buy (I was covered under warranty as there was no evidence of cracks etc) and fit a complete unit. This was done at a main dealer under warranty but it would not have been a cheap (in the region of £250-300) part. Sorry for the dour reply. Maybe you could get the parts required from a breakers? Cheers, Clive Hunt

I actually owned a 2012 XF S and was mightily impressed. A great car and very reliable. The only thing that let me down was the butterfly valve which controls the change over from low to high pressure turbo. An upgrade from Jaguar is available as the pin is known to corrode. A very easy fix and a cheap’ish part. It can be changed by a home mechanic or an independent garage. I had mine done at a main dealer so paid a bit more. Also check all Brake discs as these take some punishment and are not the best. Apart from that and as long as it has had its regular maintenance you should be ok. Enjoy the performance!
  21. You can buy a relatively cheap AC cleaning aerosol from most automotive shops such as halfords. That should cure it.
  22. This is a known problem with a couple of Jaguar models (I know of this in several XF and F Type). My XF S had the same problem, Jaguar were very dismissive of the issue and put it down to a dodgy rubber seal although they never replaced or said what seal.
  23. Hi Steve, had this problem with my XF S a while ago. it turned out to be a corroded pin in the butterfly valve that switches from low pressure turbo to high pressure turbo. A very simple fix. worth a look.
  24. Yes, absolutely. I had a 62 plate S Portfolio which did not have the S badge at the front (it came on later models) so I purchased one and had it fitted (quite a task). It set off the car wonderfully.
