  1. Two years ago I arranged a meet in Swansea for the Mercedes SL club. All arrived on the Friday evening and we stayed in the Village Hotel which you will know Phillip down by the Marina and we had dinner together. I planned a route drive for the Saturday taking in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons stopping off in my local for a light lunch. We again all had dinner together in the Village Hotel at a decent rate on the Saturday evening and said our goodbye's on the Sunday morning. Everybody expressed how much they enjoyed themselves especially on the roads I took them on for which Clarkson and Hammond performed their Top Gear test drives. I would be more than happy to do exactly the same for the Jaguar owners club should the members want me to do so. There were a few of us that owned AMG's and the roads done the cars justice. Come on guys give me a list of names? Names so far are; once we can see that there are enough interested then we can all discuss a date. 1. Ken (KEN33Y) 2. Peter (Old Peter) 3. Phillip (Reverand) 4. Steve (Pablojag) 5. ron ( the guardian )
  2. I have done it on your behalf Steve. Once we have enough numbers we can negotiate a date
  3. Not seen anything posted for Northern Ireland Jonathan. I'm aware of a meet that is taking place in Scotland on the 28th June, another is attempting to get a meet together in the Midlands, I am attempting to get a meet in Swansea to take in the Top Gear testing roads which I am more than familiar with and I believe I noted a post where another was attempting to put a meet together in Cornwall.

    MPG

I would be happy with that Dewi (Dai) (Dave) in Welsh. Funny enough I have a trip to Guilford planned shortly, my Son, Son in Law, Brother and myself are attempting the Top Gear track in a reasonably priced car namely the Kia Cee'd against the clock. I can assure you none of us will be watching the mpg we will all want to claim the fastest lap time on the day.
  5. Welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB Nigel. All the members here are only to pleased to assist when or if things go wrong therefore, don't be frightened to ask any questions
  6. No idea on that one Phil, not come across that type of problem before maybe another member can assist you
  7. Hi Paul, unfortunately the reversing sensors work in series and if 1 fails then none will work. However, there is a simple method of proving if a sensor is working or not. Get someone responsible to sit in the car, go to sensor 1 and place your ear to it whilst asking the the person sitting in the car to start thee car and select reverse obviously, with handbrake and footbrake on. The sensor should make a clicking sound. The test should be repeated on all 4 sensors systematically until you find the sensor/sensors that are not functioning, replace as necessary.
  8. Welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB Paul, firstly being from Manchester I must ask the question; Blue or Red?
  9. Twice a year I remove the wheels and give them a good coating of Turtle Wax in a wax format rather than liqued. I've done this to a number of cars over the last few years and it seems to protect the wheel from the likes of brake dust etc along with giving the alloy a bright finish
  10. Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club Brian, have fun
  11. I would have said start with the Turbo however, the RAC choppy have covered that. I would now move on to the EGR, there are plenty on here who have encountered problems with the EGR and should be able to share advice. Try doing a search for entering the letters erg
  12. There would be no difference in performance more so cosmetically although I must admit I tend to upgrade to the crossed drilled discs (EBC) along with their green stuff pads
  13. Hi Simon and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB, let your mates take the Michael buddy its their loss not owning a Jaguar. Must be much more easier getting in and out of than your Elise. My Son recently sold his Exige and I hated climbing in and out of the go-kart
  14. The RAC inspection is usually very good and I'm sure the nice man knew what he was doing and looking for along with making a diagnosis of the issue. I just wonder where he got the information that the oil cooler had been changed? Did the seller tell him that after he discovered the oil in the water to fob him off? I just think of oil in water which makes it a creamy chocolate cover as water in oil i.e. head gasket. If you wish to proceed let him get it sorted on the guarantee first.
  15. Hi James and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. I am also a Mercedes convert last one being the SL55 AMG although before that I did own an SLK32 which was believe it or not much quicker than the SLK55 even though there is a big difference in engine size i.e. 5.5ltr against 3.2ltr Obviously it was down to the Kompressor but Mercedes or AMG don't appear to want to address this. My brother has the F - Type and I have driven it, its a nice car. Enjoy the Jaguar experience
  16. Hello John and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. You will find the members within to be a good bunch and only to willing to assist should you encounter any issues.
  17. You will need a wedge type ball joint splitter to remove the joint Thomas, quite reasonable from Euro Car Parts
  18. Welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. Unlike Peter I don't have a funeral director living around the corner from me just Farmers, pretty useful with the tractors though maybe an idea to start a funeral directors company being taken away on a tractor ha ha
  19. Firstly tyres at 4mm are only 2mm under new therefore, I cannot see why that was an advisory. Exhaust I cannot make comment due to the fact I have not seen or heard. Quite rightly the shocks should be changed in pairs and if you have the right tools is a relatively easy job. I think you should be able to get a pair of shocks for less than 150 if you look hard enough and then you may wish to ask a local garage how much to fit on a supply the parts yourself basis
  20. A selection of 19" following the link however they do not list any 20" for the X Type 2003 model; http://www.rimstyle.com/alloywheels/selection/?car_model_id=583&year=2003&dia=19
  21. Hi Andy and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB. I'm sure you are going to enjoy the ownership of the S Type along with being a member of the club. There is a meeting of fellow members coming up in Crieff (Scotland) whilst I am attempting to arrange a meeting in South Wales, another is again attempting to arrange a meeting in Cornwall
  22. Good man Danny, by the way I wish I had held out for a red one. I seen one on the weekend and even though I was blasting my XKR (Blue) I was envious of the red XKR
  23. Hi Danny, I can understand your frustration when you want something badly. I bought my XKR when on holiday, well paid a deposit on the basis that if I did not find the car to match the description then I would demand my deposit back (I've studied law. On my return from holiday I travelled 200 or so miles to see it and viewed the car and went for a test drive without the salesman knowing who I was. He had a big shock when I found all to be satisfactory and revealed that I was the person who made the deposit, even got something off the total price left to pay because he was embarrassed. If I were in your position I would be prepared to travel even if it means coming over the water the ferries are cheap enough these days to take the car back. May be a good idea to also look out for a solid colour reds black blues etc, they are much easier to patch up should you be unfortunate to get a scuff or scratch. Good luck Danny
  24. Hi Robert and welcome to THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB from Wales. My brother had the XF and loved it until upgrading to the F - Type
