  7. I have done a few track days but not yet in the XKR Phillip since owning it I had a bout of serious illness which put me in intensive care of best part of 3 months, I took my former car SL55 AMG on a few tracks with my Son in his Lotus Exige, he killed me on the corners but I wiped him on the straights. I also done a few tracks in my old RS days and still yearn too be on them. Top Gear Track is all booked up and my Son, Son in Law and myself cannot wait to see who gets the best lap time in that Kia Cee'd (reasonably priced car) I want at least a 1.46
  8. Just goes to show with a little tender loving care you get your just rewards, wish it were the same with her indoors.
  9. Holy $hi! that was a lot of lolly for a lock and labour, OK maybe I could live with the cost of the lock but labour
  10. Excellent Frank, I assume from the photograph that its a simple push in for fixing however to remove you would need to get your hand in be hid it to press the clips inwards for removal
  11. PPE, enough Hi Vis to light up South Wales
  12. Probably one of those things the author did not research. Obviously it can only be a push fit whereupon it as locating lugs or it is secured from below which would make it extremely difficult to get at which I assume will be the case. Good luck Paul
  13. Is it not explained in the workshop manual Paul?
  14. Lot of work involved there James, not sure if I would want to take it on. Personally I would consider exchanging the car to the purchase of a manual rather than attempting the conversion. I had an Auto SL55 AMG which I used occasionally on track days however the car had the benefit of driving in normal auto mode or using the tiptronic for changing gears.
  15. Geoff, can I suggest you take a look in the area when the car iix up to full temperature and the cooling system is fully pressurised. Should there be any leaks in the aforementioned conditions then you should spot them in good light even fine sprays of leakage.
  16. Is the car you took for a test drive with a dealer? then if so raise the questions and if wish to proceed with a purchase ensure its on the condition that any problems you have noted are corrected and if possible get it in writing.
  17. Hi Phil, Welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club, really envious of you being a test driver for Jaguar I would love to take my XKR out on a track. I am going out for 3 laps in a reasonably priced car next month on the Top Gear Track against the clock against my Son, Son in Law and Brother so will have to make do with that.
  18. Good news Adam and also one to log in the memory
  19. I purchased new callipers from EBC Brakes online for my wife's car a few years ago and they were quite reasonable if its of any help.
  20. Hi David and welcome to The Jaguar Owners club. I apologise I have not got the information as to whether the discs can be 300 or 320mm however I am quite sure this information can be gained from entering the vehicle details into such sites as; ebcbrakeshop.co.uk or even; eurocarparts.com/brakedisks Good luck
  21. Go to a dealer Phil, it does not have to be a main Jaguar dealer and use the facility that has been previously mentioned. Look for a forum member who lives close by to the seller and request his/her help to view/take photographs etc.
  22. Hi Sammy, welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club forum. I haven't got an F - Type myself to give an opinion however, m brother have now owned his for approx. 6 month after upgrading from an XF and absolutely loves the car. He boasts that its the best car he has owned even though it cost him £60,000. Must say I driven it and enjoyed the pleasure, fantastic exhaust note.
  23. Steve, I have advised others in the past with regard to such problems that you are experiencing with the mirror to strip it down to the mechanical components and coat with a silicone grease, this appears to do the trick and repel any ingress of moisture
  24. Hi Steve, I can see where you are coming from in asking if you had run your battery down driving in wet, dark conditions etc however, that is the reason why an alternator is fitted to the car to keep the battery charged on the move. If as you say the engine was turning over for what sounds like some considerable time before starting suggests to me that there is nothing wrong with the battery. Without being there I would not like to make judgement or comment on your suspension, that is something that would need closer investigation either by yourself or another.
  25. Hello Matt and welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club. Should you have issues as you suggest then I am confident there are many within the forum who can assist you
