I would personally stay well clear of using the power jet. The machine has its benefits but not on my cars, cold water rinse, then shampoo (I prefer Turtle Wax Shampoo) using a micro fibre cloth before once again a cold rinse with an hose pipe. Like previously advised do not wash when hot with the sun blazing await the cooler evening period or get up early.

Can I suggest you download the software for free OBDII and purchase a 16 pin to USB lead widely available on Amazon and Flea Bay. OBD is a very good diagnosis software

Frank has given you great advice about the new nut, make sure you use a hex socket to remove and re-tighten the new nut. Using an Hex head socket the size should become quite obvious I would have thought having, no free play.

Understand what your saying Joe, my brother spent £60,000 on his F Type (Fabulous Car) I hate my brother :-) I doubt the dealer be cheaper but if you can afford to spend that type of money on a car then, are you worried about the cost of a small can of touch up paint?

Obviously a matter of opinion chaps which must be respected. I have had paint mixed at Halfrauds for about 11 years without any problems however, I also had a safe solid colour which blended very well.

If everything was fine before the strip down Ieuan why take it apart for a cleansing? Again if it was all starting and running fine before the strip down I can only assume something as been missed whilst re-assembling. I cannot pin point your problem not being there but wish you luck in finding it.

Frank gave you good advice with Halfrauds, they mix the paint for you and you can choose between an aerosol or small brush/pot style. You will need to quote your colour code which should be found on a plate fitted to the door pillar

Obviously Peter has pointed you in the right direction in finding a recommended garage, I wouldn't rule out the diff judging by your explanation, welcome to the club George.

Yes, I was a little surprised in the complexity the designers have gone into to develop these modules. The only way I can see us getting to the bottom of this issue is by locating the modules and measuring the voltages as they are plied for opening closing etc. Obviously I would need to be with you to apply my experience due to the fact I don't have an S Type. Where in the West Midlands do you live? West Midlands would include the City of Hereford which is only an hours drive for me, I was brought up there

Our caravan served a purpose when our children were young and living so close to the Pembrokeshire Coast therefore, down there in an hour for the weekend and the hot climate of the South of France in the Summer Holidays. Now that the two of them have gained their phD's and Masters, left home, leaving us with just two to pay for expensive holidays we don't want a van.

The modules in figure 10.2 shows both driver and passenger side having two individual motors with no indication to witch is forward/reverse therefore, no they will not have different polarity unfortunately. The module also shows a resistor bank albeit just two resistors without icing any indication of resistor values or why they they are in the circuit and the heater element circuitry. There is a lot of cables going into each module which can be identified buy the colour codes but without knowing what the individual components are within other than the fact the motors are show along with the resistor bank and heater I wouldn't like to hazard a guess in drawing a electrical diagram with the information available to us.

Because they have modules controlling them I believe its going to be hard to find an answer to that one Paul, they must surely be controlled via the ECU with the electrical diagram showing forward and reverse motors for each mirror along with resistors and heater elements obviously being controlled by an outside temperature sensor which probably inhibits mirror movement in case of seizure.
