  1. OK,

For information if anybody needs it:-

The backlighting bulbs are a twist bayonet fit and can be removed from the underside of the switchpack without opening it up.

For non memory equipped switchpacks you need 2 x JLM 21552 (100mA)

For switchpacks with memory switchgear you need the above PLUS 2 x JLM 21553 (50mA)

To remove the bulbs just twist a quarter turn anti-clockwise with a small screwdriver of a pair of forceps. The opposite to fit new bulbs.

Enough bulbs to replace the entire compliment in a memory enabled switchpack costs just over a tenner from a Jaguar dealer.

  2. Being somewhat disappointed by the standard horns on The Princess, I was looking for a convenient replacement setup. Personally, I like air horns, but there isn't really sufficient space to fit a standard air horn compressor and horns.

A colleague suggested a Stebel Nautilus Compact so I bought one but when it arrived it seemed altogether too small to be of much use.

However, I fitted it temporarily to test.

My god, I thought the Titanic had returned. The darned thing scared the bejabers out of me.

Not that I'm boy racer you understand but the OEM horns just do not match the magisterial presence of the car.

Now even those spotty faced erks (like my grandson) will hear The Princess even above the racket their stereos make.

  3. Alternatively, you could (carefully) enter the diagnostic mode again and see if it will reset the display. That sometimes works. Failing that, if you know somebody with a Mongoose.

To be fair, there really isn't any useful need to be addressed or info to be gained by going into those screens. Score another one for the "fist of justice" to demonstrate your displeasure to your "friend".

  4. Hi Matt, welcome to the JoC :)

The CDC has a habit of jamming. If you slide the door open and look closely at the edge of the cartridge you will probably see a disc which is half in and half out.

If you repeatedly press the eject button while gently tapping the cartridge with the handle of a screwdriver, the shock should be sufficient to retract the disc fully and the cartridge will then eject.

If this fails then removal of the CDC and opening it up is required. Not difficult but fiddly and time consuming.

Your phone module may well be fitted behind the CD / Nav stack on the Kaiser panel. In which case the top position of the stack would be where your premium audio amplifier would go. To gain access, the stack needs to be unbolted and dragged out as far as it will go. The Kaiser panel is then obvious and just requires the removal of four bolts, when it will pull towards you revealing the location of the phone module.

I suspect there may be a CD jammed inside your single CD player as well. Never had that problem but the same light shocking action might release it.

Latest sat nav DVD is 2011 / 2012 if you have the Denso DVD system which I think you will have.

Hope that assists with at least some of your concerns :)

  6. I've used the 3M kit before, albeit not on the Jaguar, and it really does an excellent job. The only problem is that you remove the outer coating of the headlight lens which means that they are unprotected once the cleanup is completed and very quickly go back to their earlier poor state.

I believe that there is some sort of UV sealant which can be applied but never found any.
