  1. I have to say, she is looking really nice! Regards Steve
  2. Hi John As Andy says that's such a shame, for a car with relatively low mileage. i am sure I've seen a post and pictures regarding the removal of the sump while the engine is still in situ, unfortunately I can't remember if it was an S type or X type, I believe your engine sits differently in the engine bay to the S? I'll have a look and post the link if I can find it again. Do you have an idea of the costs involved in regards to removing your engine and replacing the bearings versus a recon? Regards Steve
  3. Hi Mal i can't help with your problem unfortunately, but I would make sure the work your 'mate' is doing, does not invalidate your warranty! regards Steve
  4. Definitely worth trying Jon, let's hope that puts an end to those pesky dashboard lights
  5. Hi Gavin you can get an idea of value of parts by checking out spares on eBay, it may be easier to just try and sell her as "Spares or Repairs " rather than having to remove parts on demand, packing and posting, then having the shell removed (probably at a cost) Just my opinion of course Regards Steve
  6. Hi Adam i presume you didn't get any owner manuals with her? What does your V5 say? Although the DVLA gets it wrong sometimes, you can also search for information using your VIN Regards steve
  7. Hi Gavin Unfortunately it's Decision time I think, they really are quite bad! If you want to spend the money you can save her though Steve
  8. Hi Jarcey these guys may be able to assist? http://www.adamesh.co.uk/quicksilver-jaguar-x350-xj8--xjr---performance-sports-exhaust-system-840-p.asp regards Steve
  9. Welcome Mike What issues are you having with the X type? There are lots of helpful and knowledgeable guys on here who may be able to assist Regards Steve
  10. I would agree with you it could be clutch related, although as Peter mentioned checking the engine mounts wouldn't hurt, why don't you bring your service forward, and let the garage advise you? Would be interested to learn the outcome Regards Steve
  11. Patience of a saint Jon, I think a lot of folks would be scratching their heads wondering if it's worth carrying on, me included
  12. Hi Russ I have the pro version (Android) have a look this should tell you what its all about regards Steve https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en_GB
  13. Hi Nick if you recently bought the car, you should be covered and within your rights to return it for repair, unless you bought it 'Sold as seen ' which I doubt very much. Did you get a warranty at all? its a daft question but have you ensured all doors / boot are closed properly? (not sure whether an open bonnet would cause a problem) Steve
  14. Hi Dave Sorry lots of questions for you I presume your in neutral at this time?(quote above) do the revs fluctuate when the shuddering starts? is it difficult to change gears? smooth / clunky? does it only shudder in forward gears, or in reverse as well? has the car lost any pulling power? do you get any high pitch squeals when pulling away? have you noticed any difference in the feel of the clutch pedal? Steve
  15. Here's mine from last MOT also low annual mileage, don't have such a big engine as Joe of course!
  16. I think you're being kind using the word "Moron" I can think of many more!
  17. Why would he do that? What an absolute waste......... Shocking
  18. Great first post, Steve, love the background info, she will definitely be better than a van! Be patient with her, she may well test you.. What sort of mileage does she have? Best Regards Steve
  19. Hi Zack Welcome to the JOC! If you can, post some pics of your little beauty, and one of the aerial. In my experience once the aerial has a kink in it, it's nia on impossible to get it 'round' again, so your probably looking at a new one. i admire your decision to get her back to her former glory, could you give us all an idea of the overall condition? I think you're project will be a great interest to many members Regards Steve
  20. I think that is just a general warning before you start the car, try starting it without pressing the brake (in park of course) if it won't start, I guess it will disappear once you apply the foot brake, and she's ticking over
  21. Hi Malcolm a photo would be good, a triangle is normally a warning sign, just taking a punt here, but as its by the fuel gauge is your petrol/diesel low? Or your fuel filler flap open? Welcome to the JOC by the way Regards Steve
