Cheap, high mileage S-Type R, should I ?
Hi Jon I've not seen hoses do that before, it looks like they have had all the air sucked out of them. I presume you will be replacing them Do you have any problems with running temperature? Steve

Race day / Time trials
Right apparently there are several third parties involved in race day events at donington, I have been given a number to call (surely a website?) anyway when I get a moment I'll see what they say

Race day / Time trials
I'll drop Donnington an e-mail and update shortly

Another hardware problem
So 'dodgyoldgit' logic seemed to work (external rather than internal) I should change my profile name! locators for what Paul? edit i of course did mean 'Doddery' not 'Dodgy'
-
Another hardware problem
Not sure where this part sits in the car, but my dodgy old logic tells me maybe the rubber you mention is a seal from water ingress rather than electrical insulation? I of course don't know how important the connector is for your project, but if it was mine (easy to say) I would try to manipulate those red things, to see if they do release the central bit, do you think they would be in the right place to fit the rear profile?
-
Another hardware problem
Forgive me Paul, not a criticism but can you provide pics of sides / top / bottom? Are there any clips on the inside? It would seem to me that to manufacture the connector, they have to be two parts at least surely? I know you're probably already on that page but had to mention. I'm seeing what looks like small red / burgundy coloured lugs from the back view were the wires enter, do they look like they could be the lugs holding the central section?
-
Another hardware problem
Hi Paul Does the Tan / Brown central section come away from the Black surround? If so it may open up (suitcase fashion) to let you remove each connector / wire? If memory serves me, many years ago of course! I used pin nose pliers to pull the connectors out from the front, but if this is the only connector block you have I would seriously advise caution, when listening to my dodgy old memory

Race day / Time trials
A handy contact you have there Russ, Looking forward to finding out what he says, Don't fancy the Boy racer thing, it would be good to see Just Jags on the track, it doesn't matter whether you poodle around or fancy opening her up, I just think it would be a great experience Steve

Huge Problem
Yashen my initial thought would be, it sounds like you have lost compression, which makes me think you're head gasket has gone, and your burning oil are you a member of the AA / RAC or the like? if so, get them out to have a look Good luck Steve

Fog light cowl for 2007 S Type
Hi Paul if you remove the drivers side one, there may well be a part number stamped inside, certainly worth a try, you may be lucky to get one that matches the paintwork from a breakers as well Regards Steve

Race day / Time trials
Me too, I'm guessing then it's not been mentioned before? I know there are all sorts of issues involved, 'At owners own risk ' insurance etc, etc and so on, but I personally would love to let her do 'Legally' what she can! Let the Jaguar off the leash Definitely something I would love to do

Race day / Time trials
Hi All My apologies if this has cropped up before, but I would be interested to know if we (JOC members) ever do this, i.e. Do we ever get to OWN a race track / circuit for the day? Steve

Cheap, high mileage S-Type R, should I ?
Russ I'm really pleased for you (at long last ay ) not wishing to hi jack Jon's thread (Jon sorry) but if I do go for it, I have choices, sell her with them on, or put the original back on then sell the Adamesh separately? I mentioned again to SWMBO, about another car, she is dead against it, calling me silly! But I'm almost sure I'll do it, have been looking and there are still some out there, i have some news I'm expecting from work soon, which will bump up my budget! If I do, I will of course start a new thread

Jaguar S Type on my drive.
Hmmm indeed! I think there are 3 fuse boxes, one engine bay / drivers side above the pedals / and one in the boot I think that cover looks to clean for engine bay 86k you did pretty good there I have to say, getting the paint work back to a decent standard will cost a few hundred, but I think your still on to a winner

Jaguar S Type on my drive.
£800 not bad at all! what sort of mileage?
-
Jaguar S Type on my drive.
I see what you mean, is it just the door that's a different shade? from the last pic you sent the rear wing looks quite similar? the scuff marks don't look to bad, and should be a reasonably easy fix, how's the rest of the body work? did you check the sills for rust etc?
-
Jaguar S Type on my drive.
She looks very nice Ray, Good choice! (not that I'm biased of course )

Jaguar S Type on my drive.
you can buy them pre-made from somewhere like e-bay etc, or from a breakers, I have to say I don't know about them being thicker? I would imagine the fixings would be the same, you will see from my post I cut out the original vertical slats, and sprayed the plastic bit that was left silver, otherwise the surround (black bit) would have showed around were the bonnet meets the grille (Just a personal choice)

Jaguar S Type on my drive.
Hi Raymond Welcome to the JOC If you have some pics of her that would be great I changed the grille myself last year, have a look at my post to give you some idea Regards Steve

Cheap, high mileage S-Type R, should I ?
Here' what they said, I just simply asked will they fit? Hi Steve Unfortunately not as they are different boxes with different size inlet pipes. I asked if he knew what size, and the cost for new Hi Steve It is around 5 – 8mm wider from memory. The Type R back boxes are £449 incl VAT + £8.00 delivery.
