  1. Thanks Joe now I know! Regards Steve
  2. Morning All This topic got me thinking, so I had a look at mine, which has a minor difference to the image Simon provided. Any reason why the mouth of the air intake is smaller?
  3. Looking forward to seeing some pics!
  4. Hi Russ I don't know anything about the quality of the spoilers from Taiwan, but for me it would be a 40 quid punt! and one I'd probably take. Mine and Malcolm's are the slightly longer ones that hang over the rear wings slightly, I had a look at a newer STR (link below) you will see it has the shorter version, it's only my opinion, but I would prefer mine. I can add a couple of pics if you want? One thing I would say, I believe these are fixed with adhesive pads rather than bolted, they must be very thin pads as there is no daylight visible underneath Regards Steve http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201606285349093?search-target=usedcars&make=jaguar&model=s-type&price-from=500&minimum-badge-engine-size=4.0&maximum-badge-engine-size=4.5&page=2&postcode=se129bw&radius=1500&sort=atcustom&searchcontext=default&onesearchad=new%2Cnearlynew%2Cused&logcode=p&adPos=2
  5. Hi Peter dosent sound to bad then, thankfully! Regards Steve
  6. Small world Malcolm, mines a Sport 200 also. Russ I believe the spoiler is based on the STR Steve
  7. Hi Colin Mine are 18" Indianapolis BBS Split rims
  8. I see you may have a bit of a liking for Jaguars! Love the plate on the STR,!

Not a bad bug to have Tony, my S type is the first I've had, and loving her.

  9. Hi Wesley it quite a common occurrence from what I have learnt, check the condition of the rubber seal around the boot, any splits holes etc could be the entry point, sometimes there are gaps around the lights were they sit against the bodywork Steve Oh and welcome to the club
  10. Thank guys As always very good advice and valid reasoning. As you say Russ, I am a little hung up on the mileage, perhaps it would be easier to set a budget and see what's out there, within the distance I'm prepared to travel. Maybe 5 - 6k (the px value of my car is included in that) but I could shift the top end if needed Steve
  11. Hi Craig the AC may need a re-gas? Have you checked your coolant levels? Do the cooling fans work (I'm not sure if you have two) what does your temperature gauge sit at when she's warmed up Steve
  12. Thanks Jon Wow! That's costly, certainly something to think about when I start looking, the mileage will now take on even more significance for me Steve
  13. Hi Jon Won't the DSC stop the back end twitching, even with 400 BHP? if you don't mind, can I ask another question, the 'Valley pipe' has been mentioned quite a few times, as a point of concern, what does it do, and what happens if it fails? Regards Steve
  14. Hi All I did a little update back in June, in regard to the average age of Jaguar owners when they 'first' became an owner. There have been quite a few new members since, and I'd love to capture some more numbers. So any more voluntary contributions would be gratefully received, and apart from that, it's nice to see some pics, and read your stories and memories. Regards Steve
  15. Hi Jim not wishing to add more spanners into the works, the reprogramming script may well be correct, but you could have problems with the micro switches on the fobs, buying new fobs off eBay will still need reprogramming (as far as I'm aware) I had my spare reprogrammed at a main dealer, for about £50 if memory serves, you could try an auto locksmith who will come to you Regards Steve
  16. Jon is getting her picked up on a flat bed an option? Cost involved of course, but save a lot of hassle for you and reduce the amount of money going in the swear box!
  17. Love it! however beating her into submission (verbally of course) is no longer an option, I've already had the "Don't talk to me anymore about cars" comment the second option is just to scary not a fan of hospital food, nor do I fancy 2 to 3 days of the silent treatment! Although I suppose I could kip in the back of the STR? i was considering the puppy eyed, quivering bottom lip approach?
  18. You'll get there I will say I have enjoyed reading this thread, it's been a very interesting journey. Please keep us updated, and of course any pics would be great Regards Steve
  19. Thanks Jon very informative information, perhaps buying a newer one is the way to go then. it will be 3-4 months I think before I go looking, unless something spectacular comes up. Because as you say they are quite thin on the ground, so I could be traveling all over the place just viewing them. I will find one and investigate, if it turns out to be a wrong-un! Then I'll search again In the meantime, I have to convince SWMBO that there's some logic to purchasing another car, after only 1 year of owning my current S Type
  20. Thanks Guys I had forgotten the road tax thing, although as you say Jon only a couple of hundred quid, but, I will chuck that into the mix while I make a decision. I also need to take into account the uplift in insurance, the MPG will of course get worse, but you don't buy a 400 BHP supercharged V8 if you need to worry about the extra running cost! I will have a budget set aside for extra stuff that May need doing, such as a Parrot system if the car doesn't have Jag voice, I already have a CDC sitting in the spare room if needed. It will have to be a trader deal as I want a px, and I'm certainly not handing over several grand to a bloke on the street! I wont be rushing into a buy Russ, as you quite rightly say, I'll be looking around as there are somethings I would want, I love the ivory leather interior, I like BRG / JRG but wouldn't be my first choice, the grey one in the link is really nice, also fancy Black. Having some more toys would be nice also. The big thing for me is the mileage, as i mentioned above, 80k or below would be my target, I understand I may have to compromise a little on that. The history of course is also very important, however one thing I've never really understood is, the concerns surrounding multiple owners? Is that concern based on the fear it could be a 'Problem' car hence it being moved on so many times? I'm thinking a budget of 5-7k including my 3.0 in that deal, could get me what I want? I can increase if needed (would rather not of course) do you think that's realistic? Where do I start with px value? Do I go strong at asking for 2k and let the dealer bring me down to say 1.5k or are my expectations too high already?
