Headlight bulbs.
I dont think I do enough after dark driving to warrant HId ,so I will give the ring 150s a go ,is it worth doing main beam as well? If only LED was up to speed and legal,I recently changed my security light to LED ,what a difference..

Headlight bulbs.
A couple of years ago I was considering changing my headlight bulbs ,time has gone bye and the car has not been used a lot ,now having reduced the stable down to one The S type is being used daily ,to-night I had to go out and realised how poor the headlight are ,so what has everyone else gone for? I presume technology has moved forward over the last few years. Has it or we still stuck with candle power in single figures?

Age of Battery?
I have been having battery problems on and off for the last year. Drove down to Cardiff Friday afternoon ,no problems ,went to move the car a couple of hours after arrival and I have a full failure display , New battery fitted, but I was surprised that the failed battery was only 650 watt and a Jaguar battery where as the replacement is 900.

Battery Reset Document
OK thanks,I thought that would be the case , to charge I have to run a cable across the footpath ,so not ideal

Battery Reset Document
Battery problems again,my fault as I have not had time to even run the car for the last couple of weeks ,I checked the battery voltage and was surprised to find a reading of 11.6 volts ,over 14 with the engine running ,I would not have called 11 volts low but apparently it is. I have now reset almost everything ,tried to put the wrong code into the radio ,it now says please wait,I will try that again in the morning. So I have to do the initialising run, anyone know how pedantic the steps are? I have little chance of doing 30mph for three minutes on a Friday morning, the same goes for 40 or 50,and the M5 is a couple of miles away before I have any chance of hitting these speeds.

Air freshener / scent
Morning all, I cannot stand air fresheners ,like Joe I clean the leather about twice a year with Gliptone and the occasional clean between with saddle soap. That keeps my cream leather clean and fresh and removes the dog smell.

S-Type battery woes - a possible solution
Now I dont think that will ever happen ,the idea these days is to force you to a dealer so that a " technician "can plug a computer in and tell him whats wrong , electric and hybrids will see the back of greasy mechanics with a lifetimes knowledge ,redundant. Thank you and everyone else for todays tips , all lights out and running as smooth as a babys bum.

Jacking Points - Under sills.
Thanks very much , now I need to crawl underneath and identify these points. I have never trusted jacking points since watching my MK11 crumble as I tried to get the wheel back on !!!!!!

Jacking Points - Under sills.
This post brought a question to mind , where can you safely use a trolley jack? I also always carry a little bottle jack ,I have never trusted the bent tin things usually supplied , will the sill points stand that ??? Cheers Mike

S-Type battery woes - a possible solution
Hello everyone,I hope you all enjoyed the heat , my car did stuck in the garage , I have just not had time to drive it. I have tried to ensure the battery held a decent charge by giving it the occasional run between junctions 3 & 4 M5 . AS the Jeep was having some new brakes fitted I dragged the Jag out of bed,all was well for a mile then ABS warning light came on,shortly followed by everything lighting up including the EML and the radio cut out. Disconnected battery and charged reconnected , all lights out except engine management light. So what have I done wrong? I have done the throttle pedal reset so anyone any idea what next? My fault of course ,I was boasting to a Audi owner that the Jag had given me almost no probs in three years. Keep my trap shut in future, Mike.

Radio
My car is also garaged but charging involves two cable reels across a friends allotment and 40' of rear garden,so not really practical to leave connected all winter !! But we do try.

Radio
A few hours means until the battery is fully charged,if I hav'nt used the car for a week then I will run it until fully warm , I try to charge at least once every three weeks. However I think you are on the right lines and a lot more use is called for. Thanks Mike

Radio
I cannot keep the charger on all the time but stick it on for a few hours whenever I get the chance.

Radio
Hi folks, Well after another high mileage year (1300 ) I have a couple of queries that I hope someone can answer. The radio started to play up last summer ,it refused to switch on ,if I kept at it it eventually did power up but with a station of its choice not mine and refused to change. Eventually it would not power up at all,I left it switched on and after about a month or so it frightened me to death by blaring our radio 1!! Now before I replace the whole thing,is there a fix? Second problem, the car went in for MOT and oil a filter change a few weeks ago ,now the car does sit unused for more than it should and lately having stood for a week or so ,when I start up I am greeted with a loud cheeping that only lasts a couple of seconds then stops,no warnings on the dash that I have seen.Any ideas ? Cheers Mike

S type gear-box.
Thank you all, I have had the car for nearly two years ,the gear box had an oil change just before I bought it,I checked with the dealer that did it. Since it threw its little wobbly it has been no problem ,as smooth as ever..It is perhaps a little slow to drop a gear at speed ,but that could just be me sitting too far away from the pedals !!!!!!

S type gear-box.
We have just had a week in Cornwall, during which the car performed faultlessly. However on the return journey after driving through some horrendous weather we had a clear run up the M5,until we left the m/way at junction 3,I came down the slip road over the first set of lights, second set were against me so slowed up to stop, just before stopping the g/box changed down with a hell of a thump. When I pulled away the box was reticent to change up, after revving in bottom gear for a few yards it changed up and has worked perfectly since. This gearbox has always been a smooth as silk. Anyone any ideas??
