  2. I have just bought an XK8 and absolutely love it. This is my third Jag in my time including the XF which was a 2008 car and quite buggy, and a 2010 XKR coupe which was lovely but crazy. But I am really enkoying this XK with the soft-top. I don't miss the supercharger on the newer version and love the J-Gate.

  4. Hi, just popped by to introduce myself. I’m Andy, 55 from Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. Purchased my first Jaguar (X351), 2016 with 45,500 on 14th February this year and it’s been an eventful few months. 1 day after the dealer 3 month warranty expired she spun a bearing. Fortunately for me I ‘persuaded’ the dealer that the Consumer Rights act covered the vehicle for 6 months from purchase. So they picked her up and took her on a little jaunt around several specialists until they settled on a suitable place to have the work done. Good old InControl letting me track the movements (as well as the air tag onboard!). After 10 & a half weeks of constantly chasing I was able to collect the car and bring her home. You’d think the story would brighten up from there but….. as soon as I hit the motorway she went in to RP and as I didn’t have my OBD with me I wasn’t able to get a fix on the issue. Limped home as I suspected an air leak which was what the codes showed me. I wasn’t prepared to send her back to the dealer again after the way things had gone and set about resolving it. changed MAF A, MAP and cleaned out throttle body (which was badly choked up). Still getting RP periodically but not with any particular set of conditions. Eventually found the air intake pipe from MAF B to turbo was not connected to the turbo. No wonder I was getting RP and soot deposits on the tailpipes. Spent a considerable amount of time at the weekend figuring out how to get the pipe back on when there is zero room for tools down at the turbo to hold the spring clip open enough. Eventually got it sorted and secured. Cleared the DTC again. Hooked up SDD and ran through install throttle body, turbo etc and finally all codes cleared. Now drives like the car I was expecting and I really look forward to getting in and driving with no faults or RP. Sorry for the long story. Just so chuffed to have my car back.

  6. I agree the maps are nothing to do with it but ,but the maps cannot be updated as the TCU and IMC are out of date preventing the infontain system to operate correctly. Jaguar Land Rover say it won't effect my vehicle Lloyds jaguar aren't as confident. But they'll take £203 for the privilege.
  7. What is your charging voltage? Often if there's an internal fault like a blown rectifier this will trigger the charge warning light. Also if the drive belt is loose it can happen plus a whole host of other causes.
  8. Can someone tell me where they put a factory based subwoofer in saloon version of a Jaguar X type Sovereign ? I know where the estate version is.
  9. Have you tried ebay?

  11. I have a Jaguar XF Portfolio March 2015 2.2d, looking in the engine bay last weekend I saw the BLUE connector below that is not connected to anything. Any idea what it is? There is no connector nearby that it could connect to as far as I can see. I'd have thought if it was redundant or for some accessory my car doesn't have then it would have a waterproof plug added???
  12. Well I checked the boot (both sides and spare wheel well) and absolutely no damp or water ingress at all, see pics below. I understand there are 3 modules for the parking aid system (rear sensors module, front sensors module and master) but I could not see any of them in the boot area, any one any idea where they are? Many thanks.
  13. Hi Martin That sounds very expensive!. Presumably a Jag main dealer. I would be looking for other quotes without a doubt. As a guide to parts prices try searching online at places like this : https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/jaguar/xf-x260/115130/10221-shock-absorber Good luck John
  14. swapped this set for a 17" set so now surplus to requirements, all 6mm plus, comes with vertical cover - will take £250 but they need to be collected, Hertford
  15. Thanks to you both for your opinions, much appreciated. May not have one fitted after all.
  16. Welcome!
  17. Decided to order some new plates and a new plate holder for my jaguar x type as they were looking rather old and tatty , fixed and installed the rear plate no issues just a couple of screws but as I took the plate off the holder there are 3 metal rivets fixing the holder to the bumper , any advice on what I can do? Will I need to remove the whole bumper to replace this or will I be able to remove these with a drill? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if anyone has done this before tips would be great
  18. The C70 is enjoying a bit of a rennaissance interms of value and kudos so my advice would be SORN it over winter and run it as a summer car.
  19. ............ and here we see the 3.0 Jaguar in its natural habitat, a fillng station! 🤣 Joking aside, i have an S Type 3.0 and i easily get at least 28mpg from it without trying - the big enemy of good mpg is pootling about at 30mph up and down the gears. Long straight roads, constant speed above 50mph and it gets good figures. Welcome aboard Daniel, as mentioned above, check for rust on the sills and where they meet the rear wheel arches.
  20. It isn't the cam cover gasket it is the manifold actuator flap gasket. Check behind the manifold casting and you will find it is wet. Another good reason for an oil catch tank from the engine breather. https://ebay.us/m/IYddQl https://ebay.us/m/OkfXPQ
  21. No, but SDD 131 and mongoose can do it. As soon as you plug it in it will read the car and send you to 'Legacy' IDS. Apparently this version is easy enough to track down and it has to run on WinXP with the PC date August 2012!
  22. Eaton M112 oil from Powerhouse. It carries the same specs as the Jet oil such as the US Military performance standards.
  23. Welcome aboard Dave, glad you finally found us!
  24. Welcome to the forum. This thread may help; https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/fuel-flap-does-not-lock.79891/
  25. Hello Christopher. Thanks for that. The dealer is dealing with the issue thankfully and they think its a faulty instrument cluster which is being repaired at present. I will keep you posted. Thanks. Best, Rob
  26. I’ve just got a 1998 XK8, on the way home all the instruments stoped working, SPEED, RPM, FUEL, OIL, WATER, AMPS. Non of the back lights on any instruments work. The car starts and drives. So I think there must be a connector that is either come adrift or corroded. Can any one point me in the right direction to where this might be located or any other suggestions? Thanks
  27. funktioniert nicht. hat jemand einen Tip
  28. hi, sorry to read about the problems, but if yuo had to change discs and pads within 6 minths span, considering you work from home...you are being robbed in day light, sorry to say. way you needed all 4 new wheels? tyres i can understand...all those fixes do not fill me with confidence. look for independent jaguar garage and give them car for a full check and then decide what to do. it wil cost you something, but without jag specialists looking at it, it's a guessing game (as it is so far, by the looks of it).
