  2. Hi all i have a 1996 xk8 , are there any easy fixes with the electric petrol cap . Mine has recently stopped working. I know how to manually open it but is there a common problem and easy fix for them . Thanks in advance . also more importantly are there any jag breakers yards near Manchester/ Rochdale area that can be recommended. Regards Dave.
  3. Hi andy nothing to do with the headlining but more curiosity . You said you recently purchased the xk8 . Was it from Stockport/ Manchester area by chance .

  6. no it doesnt. i've got pro and it's 3g. as mentioned earlier, 4g was implemented from 2018 or 2019 models. 2017 like yours has 3g for sure. and you can't make it 4g - thought about it to just swap module, but it won't work as 4g one has different architecture to 3g module and it simply won't talk to the car
  7. Also, does the fact the car is touch pro make a difference? I read online touch pro should be 4G
  8. Do you remember what dongle you used?
  9. 4g capability in jags came with 2018 if not 2019 models (can't remember). untill then it's 3g only. to overcome this, i bought 4g wifi dongle and connect car to that. yuo can get 5g wigi dongles as well. sim card needs to be data only. i had smarty sim before switching to wifi dongle and worked a treat
  10. Hi David, you should be aware that in a normal braking system the fluid should be replaced every 2 years as brake fluid absorbs moisture and that is not good in a braking system. This would be why the garage did a brake fluid replacement during the service - it is standard every second service, N6 JMX

  12. Good evening Joe, Many thanks for your prompt reply which is greatly appreciated, if these guys are effectively, "just on the doorstep" so to speak, it could be worth the "offending garage" giving them a try, I have printed off the contact details of "Big Red" for their note when they have the car back next week to sort this issue out for me. I have to say that I was pretty pi**ed off with their antics as I had not asked them to do anything with the brakes whatsoever, the car is just my daily driver, not tracked or driven stupidly (although that is not for me to say! 🙂 ) and there were not any issues with the brakes when it went in! simply, my regular 8,000 mile service, oil filter, the usual etc's replace front and rear diff lubricants and additionally, being an electronic diff, the transfer box too . As per my first mail, I can understand them not wanting to brass up for a new calliper but giving me some nonsense about paint on the calliper causing the problem just inflamed the issue! I have a graduate engineering background and I am no prepared to listen to this rubbish, the callipers are in first class condition, the paint finish is as it left the factory and it is simply a surprise if the other three bled out satisfactorily without issue, the principal causation then being that it was only some ham fisted mechanic without any patience who broke the blo**dy thing off!! Anyway, enough of the rant, thank you again for your contact assistance ... Kindest. David.
  13. Now it won’t even read the SIM card, just comes up with the emblem in the top right corner, any suggestions? I tried manually setting the Vodafone APN as well, but now I can’t even get to that setting IMG_9216.dng

  15. Only a thought, but the two features showing as 'expired' (secure tracker and online data plan) only come with a 12 month subscription ? If you purchased your F-PACE in July last year, they will have expired this month, if you want to retain these features, you will need to pay the annual subscription. Think it is £240 per year for the Tracker and £120 per year for the data plan ?
  16. hi, i have a mascot but can't find out which model it came from. I've looked at many images but can't find a match. can you help please. it's 8 inches nose to tail. it has a distinctive head showing whiskers. it also has back feet which others don't. thanks. Andy
  17. Hi Bryn, Mine is a Vodafone 4G SIM, it shows up as such, but I'm unsure whether it's data only or not (most likely it is!). I went with Vodafone since our phones are on Vodafone SIMs so it keeps billing simple. Good luck! Jon
  18. Hi take the caliper off and send it to Big Red, they refurbishi calipers to new condition and they do that sort of job every day and would only cost a few hundred pounds to fix, phone them and they will give you a price, quick turn around aswell cheers Joe https://www.biggred.co.uk/
  19. Thanks for all the replies. Do we know if the system supports 4G data? I assume jt would, but I’m seeing a lot of other places only mentioning 3G (not to be confused with the network 3) and if so, is that why I can only get E as 3G is now switched off
  20. Hey Jon, Thanks for reaching out! I don’t have any problem connecting, but I can’t get anything more than E (edge) connection, it never connects to 3G or 4G. Does your Vodafone sim come up as 3G or 4G on the display unit? Cheers
  21. Event now past and hailed as another success with over 100 Jaguars on the Museum forecourt and raising nearly £2,000 on the day for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance - SCAA.
  22. You can purchase data only SIM on places like Amazon, they come with a data limit and a time limit, i.e. if the data allowance is unused after the set time elapses, then the SIM needs to be replaced. Alternatively, you can purchase a data only SIM and Plan from sites like UBIGI, where you pay a monthly subscription for a set data limit. Suggest the latter as more cost effective. Select a low data limit plan and then keep an eye on usage via the App. If you find you are using more that the allowance, you can always up the plan. As an example, I have a 500MB monthly renewing plan in my car and the only time I run over the 500MB is when we are away on continental holiday - the I get an additional one-off top up plan. N6 JMX
  23. It might be worth amending the description slightly to avoid confusion and adding some more details of the colour combination and specification. The SV8 is a rare car, only officially available 2008-2009 Description should be: XF 4.2 SV8 (the 'S' in this case stands for 'Super' V8, it's not an 'R' model) An XFS 'V8' on the other hand, doesn't have a supercharger, so people can get themselves mixed up, depending on how they read it !🙂 Best of luck with the sale.
  24. It needs to be a data only SIM, not a phone SIM as far as I know. This one has been mentioned previously and lots of the reviews mention in car use. https://www.argos.co.uk/product/3342985?clickSR=slp:term:data sim:7:69:1
  25. Hi Bryn, I also have a ‘17 XF-S and have a Vodafone SIM in its slot. What I’ve found is that it connects fine, but after the car has been switched off for a while (wife in the shops, etc.!) it annoyingly disconnects. Could this relate to your situation? Cheers, Jon
  26. Hi all, just picked up a second hand XF S, it has in control pro, and the SIM card slot. I put in a Vodafone sim I had and it connects but doesn’t connect to 3G or 4G, just E. I then tried putting in 3 sim from my work phone. That didn’t connect at all! (That being said, it got kind of stuck in the slot and I had to pull the adapter out with pliers. I put the Vodafone sim back in and it connects again, but only to E. So the web browsers or anything internet related won’t work. I have checked all the settings under mobile data in the car, roaming in on, Mobile data is on, manually put in the APN just to make sure, still nothing. Is it worth buying a brand new data only sim and trying again? Any advice? Cheers!
  27. Hi, thank you for the post.. I’d love to do a nice Sunday drive out to pick it up, unfortunately it’s quite a trek! Thankfully, I have managed to buy one that matches the colour I need (and was a much shorter drive away). Thankfully you for the tips about the a post! Andy
