  2. Hi Mark Pretty sure by 2019 that CD player was optional. Easiest solution is to use bluetooth to connect to your phone and listen to spotify etc... John

  4. Oils are difficult to get right. You can spend hours on line reading about the different varieties of oil and the different specs etc and only end up with less knowledge than what you started with . My general rule with oils is get the specification as close as you can and by a good quality oil... sorry I cant be more helpful than that
  5. I’ve just bought a 2019 xf s sportbrake 3.0d and I can’t find the cd player
  6. I think on a 2001 XK the keyhole is on the lower right hand side of the bootlid, where the chrome badge is ?
  7. Hi Rebecca, assuming you can get into the car itself, open the bonnet. There you will find a suitable positive and negative post to allow you to fit a 12v power source, such as a battery charger or power pack. This will allow the whole car to power up and you will be able to pop open the boot, using the interior switch or boot lid button, to put the charger leads direct onto the battery. Do not try and start the car from a flat battery situation using the under bonnet posts. I don't believe the secret keyhole will work with a completely flat battery as it still relies on the electrical solenoid to energise the unlock circuit. N6 JMX
  8. Hi Eddie, the information said to unlock the driver's door with the black key - nothing about starting the car with the black key. N6 JMX

  10. You should be able to find a "secret" keyhole just under the chrome plinth on the bootlid - using the key to unlock the boot there should get you in.
  11. Hi all, New member here looking for advice! I have an 2001 XKR with a flat battery which unfortunately means I currently am unable to get into the boot to the battery. Does anyone have any tips/tricks as how to get into the boot without forcing it open? Or to charge the battery without access? Thanks in advance, Rebecca
  12. Cheers and thanks for your help
  13. Hi N6jmx I have tried the black key to start the car, failed 😕 the boot is still locked Thanks Eddie
  14. Hi Jimbov8 Very useful I will try that one through the grommet, when the rain stops If the red button as been pressed down, there no way to it when the boot is locked, because of the fittings around it Thanks Eddie
  15. Hi Eddie, watch this video from 4 mins in, it may help you get in.
  16. The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust may be able to fill in some background for the car. An email to them with as much information as possible may bear some more details.
  17. Hi Eddie, if I remember correctly, the XK8 has a "Valet" button on the fob which must have been activated - pressed inadvertently. To reset out of Valet mode, you need to unlock the car - driver's door, from fully locked, using the black headed key - not any of the fobs. For some reason, this information is not contained in the Owners Manual. N6 JMX
  18. Hi Philip, the onset of the GDPR legislation means it is very difficult to obtain historic information of a personal nature. The registration number of AGG 7 is most likely a personal / cherished plate as date related plates were already in use by DVLA at that time. The number assigned in 1999 is most likely its original assigned number that was never issued on a plate as the personal plate was retrieved from the car. Have you tried looking up the MoT history at DVLA? This may provide some clues as to where the car was located during its lifetime - try searching using both numbers. N6 JMX

  21. Hi , I have recently purchased a 1966 e type roadster, the vehicles original number plate in 1966 was AGG7 the vehicle was re registered in 1999 and on the original log books from that time it declares no previous owners. I can only think that the vehicle was exported in 1966 and brought back into the U.K. in 1999. The original dealer was Newlands in Mitchum Surrey, I will contact them to see if they have any information. The Jaguar Heritage certificate no is 15219 and everything checks out regarding serial numbers etc. I would really appreciate if anyone could tell me how to trace this missing information ?? Cheers Philip

  25. Biggest factory option was 18" We dealer fitted Arden 19" alloys for a while but discovered that they could hit the rear arches, damaging both the tyre and the wheel arch. I seem to remember that 'rolling' the rear arches allowed the 19's to fit and not cause damage when it went over bumps. Personally, I wouldn't go bigger than 18 anyway.
  26. What is the biggest wheel size can I put on my Jaguar X Type ?
  27. Thank you, Big John
  28. I've just had full 80,000 mile service with cam belt replacement and gearbox service by a Jag specialists for £1800 which I thought was well worth it as I've never paid a garage in 45 years of motoring to service or repair my car. Some one's definitely had your pants down, don't understand why they double flushed was this to double the price.
  29. So I've owned my Jaguar for around a month and when I first got it I put all 6 disks inside the rear boot multidisc casette/case , after around 2 weeks an error message appeared when selecting the CDC button on the centre console , it was 'CDC Error' , after having a look the number 5 slot was jammed selected and wouldn't come out and the casette was jammed in , when pressing the eject button it was still stuck inside and was jammed , after trying for around 10 minutes it finally ejected , knowing this I didn't put a disc in slot 5 and now it is still becoming jammed? Any advice/Help? Or does this sound like a common issue and may be a case of replacing the unit and or CD case?
