  11. Hi John, first up you need to understand the variations. You say you are looking for an XK8, which goes by the model designation X-100. Then you indicate you would like a model from around 2010, which would be the X-150 model. The X-100 was built between 1996 and 2005, whereas the X-150 model was built between 2006 and 2014 / 2015. For 2010, you would be looking at a 5.0 litre engined car, available as either a Coupe or Convertible. My preference is the Convertible, but to each their own. There is also the choice, in both models, for the naturally aspirated XK8 / New XK, or the supercharged XKR. The X-100 is a steel bodied car, with specific areas prone to corrosion that you would need to be aware of, whilst the X-150 is an aluminium architecture and body, with minimal corrosion elements, but still needs to be carefully checked. There are quite a number of good You Tube videos on the merits of the X-150 which you could seek out, but the best advice is to go and see as many cars as you can locate to get a "feel" for them. If you are a Jaguar buying novice, then try and take someone with you who knows what they are looking at. The X-150 cars are typically available these days from circa £10k to +£30k and obviously you get what you pay for. There are currently 18 X-150 cars for sale on the JEC Classifieds, the JEC is the largest Jaguar Club in the world. The link below should take you to the list of Classifieds at the JEC site. There's also lots of other information there, but most of it only accessible to the members, but worth the fee in my opinion. jec.org.uk/classifieds/index.php?page=cars-for-sale&category=1608 Simple adage, buy the best you can afford, but keep your eyes open and seek advice if unsure. The JEC can arrange for inspections by local enthusiasts' knowledgeable about the particular model, but again I think that needs you to join the Club. If you find anything of interest meantime, come back here and post a link thta folks can check out on your behalf. Good Luck. N6 JMX
  12. My X type deserves a fluid flush on the gearbox, it's a 2002 pretty sure it's on the same oil it was delivered with. Any Norfolk / Cambridgeshire / Suffolk recommendations?

  14. Good one!
  15. Priceless - I’m in my local and there’s a Landrover owner next to me telling his mate that his car parking aid uses Sattelite to give him the Birds Eye view that you see from the synchronised cameras 😂 He actually thinks a Sattelite camera is following him around. I nearly spat out my Guinness 😂
  16. Explore the blend of elegance and performance with the Jaguar X-Type V6 Sport, a classic car that stands out with its 4-door saloon body type and striking silver exterior. Under the hood lies a robust 2.5 litre petrol engine with a manual transmission, coupled with all-wheel drive for a balanced and confident ride. Its spacious interior is wrapped in sophisticated black, offering a comfortable and luxurious driving experience. With a history of six previous owners and a mileage of 109,000, this 2003 model (registered on 30th July 2003) comes with a complete V5C registration document and is a right-hand drive, ready to be cherished by a new aficionado. The vehicle's six-cylinder engine and comprehensive set of features make it a desirable pick for enthusiasts and collectors alike. MOT expired Jan 2025 had new pads and discs needs radiator repair.
  17. Have owned this car for 15 years and this time just not going to make through MOT without money being spent so relunctantly decided to sell as project or spare parts
  18. No problem, don't get me wrong, you can find many of these engines without any issues, but I think more often than not, they are problematic. until 2019 when they finally fixed the issues
  19. Psst, get an XF! 🤣🤣🤣 Welcome to the forum 👍
  20. Thanks, BiK3rz. It is a 2.0d. Appreciate your advice. Think I'll give this one a swerve.
  21. Welcome, hopefully you'll find your dream xk!
  22. Hi, what engine though? If it's 2.0d then i would stay away as in 7/10 cases its ticking bomb due to combination of chain guides bad design and waaay too long 2 year service intervals. They fixed it from 2019 onwards. If there's proof that it had oil changes every 5-8k miles then it should be fine. If it's 3.0d then there's nothing to worry about, much better engines. Gearboxes are bullet proof on jags. Nothing specific in 2017 xf to look out for other than usual checks when you buying car of this age.
  23. Good evening all. I am looking at a 2017 XF diesel with 66000 miles. Are there any specific issues I should be aware of? I made the mistake of buying a Ford Kuga Powershift with 58000 miles, and after another 5000 miles had to buy a replacement gearbox. I learned after the event from the Kuga owners club that it's a common recurring failure. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  24. Hi all! I've been a long-time fan and admirer of Jaguar cars ever since i was 8 yrs old. The closest we came ot owning a Jag was when my father purchased a Daimler car ( when i was about 10 yrs old). I have always wanted a jaguar car and when i first saw the XK8 i was hooked on it, ever since the 1990's i have wanted one. For the past 15 years i have been driving a 1999 Audi A4, saving up for my *dream Jag* .Now i am 56 and finally can afford to purchase one. My occupation is an Osteopath. I would like to know from the members on here what i should be looking for. Ideally i wanted a model from 2010 onwards. All advice would be welcome Once I find the right car, I will be eternally grateful to everyone who helps me, and i will post pictures and if i can help anyone on this forum i will. Thank you . P.S. I have had to type in a Jag model to sign up, but i dont have the Jag yet but i intend to purchase one in the next 2 months. John
  25. Silly me, thanks👍
  26. Hi David, advice on battery replacement is 5 years and it has to be suspect, despite what a battery test might say. A good catch as most folks ignore the advice and end up with dashboard lighting up light Blackpool in September. N6 JMX
