  2. Hi Dave. There is a sport button increasing the revs before changing gear. I'm not sure what that would do but appreciate the input. As I said, waiting 5 seconds from ignition to start up is working for now, keeping fingers crossed. Cheers. Graham.

  4. Hi Keith, Not very far as the crow flies, but a drive around to Swallows Jaguar at Rooksbridge, see link below, might be a worthwhile trip. These guys are very knowledgeable and good to deal with. https://swallows-jag.co.uk/ N6 JMX

  6. Thanks John. The battery is less than 6 months old, and I will remove it and fully charge it and hope it removes some of the codes. I did try once before with no difference to the car. What is a short journey? The car travels at least 18 miles each way twice a week, what mileage is minimal for charging the battery? No stop / start as its a 2009 Model.
  7. Hi Keith First thing to check would be the battery. Random codes and problems such as you are suffering are often down to a failing battery. How old is the battery? Have you had it tested / have you tried charging it? Was / Is your stop / start working normally before these symptoms? Has the car been stood for a while / used for short journeys only? Regards John
  8. Reaching out for some help as I've hit a wall with understanding why the Cat is not working properly. So I have the following issues: 1. When driving the car ( or sitting still and revving higher than 3000 ) the car goes into limp mode, DTC not available etc.... 2. Recently the key fobs stopped opening/locking doors, the fob still works when inserted and car functions normally. So I have the following codes: Instrument Cluster Control Module U0214-00 This refers to the keyfob issue P0635-11 This refers to a power steering issue. HVAC Module B11FF-84 This refers to lack of gas in system. BCMB U0264-00 States ignore this DTC. U0214-00 No info provided BCM U0214-00 No info provided ABS Control Module U0401-68 Invalid data received from ECM/PTC module. RFA module not responding - tried to test through the SDD but failed. So, I need some help understanding the consequence of the RFA not working and what exactly it is.... Could this be causing the limp mode? If anyone in the Swansea area ( happy to drive further ) can assist then I am happy to pay ... Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi Geoff, I suspect what you are looking at is a rubber seal that has baked hard due to age, wear and heat. Putting your part number into the search engine produces multiple "hits", including OEM seals available and they all look like rubber items to me. N6 JMX
  10. Hi all, my apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong forum - first time poster! I need to replace the diff pinion oil seal in an XK8 I'm working on. Looking at the old seal, it seems to be made of Bakelite on the top - any ideas why this material is used for this application? It seems quite old-fashioned. Thanks in advance,
  11. Told you in terms of codes. I'll have to look in the hood to see if it's turning. While in the car i can't tell. i know there's power because there is a noise but doesn't sound like an engine turning over. Will let you know.
  12. Just a weird thought here Graham, do you have an overdrive button for your gearbox? If so, try cycling that off/on a couple of times before turning the ignition on.
  13. Hello all, My first post, so I hope not a ridiculous question: Is the camber adjustable on the XF? (X260 - mine is a Jan 2020 build). And if not, why not? Reason for query: just had 4 x Eagle F1 Asym 6 fitted, followed by wheel alignment reset by technician using Hunter system. Printed report before and after shows the left (nearside) camber front and rear were and are both outside the green tolerance limit (left front was -0.53 now -0.49, left rear was -1.30 now -1.25). This means the thrust angle is slightly off, only just within tolerance. The technician tells me camber is not adjustable. I pressed him on this as the caster reading is greyed out - which does seem to indicate non-adjustable. But the camber readings are yellow (left) and green (right). So is the technician correct? Or does it just mean it needs a specialist to perform any adjustment? Thanks for any advice. Paul. img035.pdf
  14. The problem of the blocked AC drain persists on both the earlier New XK (X-150) and on the XJ (X-350). N6 JMX
  15. Hi Dave, Many thanks for your thoughts. I did put a new battery on but that did not cure the light. It may be a slightly less amperage than required, but the size of the tray was critical. When I start the car from cold 3 times, it's one after the other. The car is always on a trickle charger. I now turn the ignition on and wait 5 seconds before starting. Touch wood, the light hasn't come on over quite a few starts. I don't know what made me think of doing this but I'm hopeful. Cheers. Graham.

  17. Hi Eddie, sounds like you have a blocked drain from the AC system, a known problem especially in the New XK models. There is a modification to the drain that avoids future blockages. Not a big problem, but quite a task to access the drain and make the fix. N6 JMX
  18. Located in Chelmsford Essex is JD Classics. A little further afield is Ken Jenkins (marque specialist) trading as Carlton Autos Ltd in Worksop, Notts. N6 JMX
