Yes, it's a power lift boot and opens automatically. I have to close it manually.

The first few minutes of this video shows how to remove the number plate lights.

Hi I am new to this, and maybe I am starting this in the wrong place, if I am can someone point me in the right direction. The problem is associated with the rear number plate lights and bezel. When I say bezel it is the complete chrome or painted boot lock, light and boot wide JAGUAR logo. I have just bought a new chrome unit less lights lock initiating button i.e just the chrome plastic molding ( I thought it had a "u" in it but my spell detector says no) any way I want to take the old one of but don't want to break the lenses, They are obviously brittle and I can find lots of places were I can get a screw driver but I don't want to break the lens by doing it wrong. Has anyone done this little job recently and can remember where is the right place and in what direction or to be blunt how do you do it. jim (Spyderromeo) Do I sign off with my real name or my member name? I have an old track day replica spyder 550 Porsche as well

Send your friend to the Jaguar Classic Parts website and browse there to find his model and all of the relevant parts diagrams. How many times have you heard the story of how someone came to be enthralled by Jaguar? Having a lift to school in the back of my friend's dad's Jaguar is a typical soundbite but I don't see any of today's schoolboys wanting a Jaguar in 30 years time because he got a lift in an EV!!!!! Jaguars have soul and that comes as much from the noise it makes to the way it holds you in the seat. N6 JMX

The one I have installed (2013 XF Luxury) is at this link. It works well, and I know others have installed it into XFs too. It is a little fiddly to fit but I would say I was very average at stuff like that and managed it fine. There is a good YouTube installation walkthrough available.

Little tip with the inertia switch - tap the body of it with the handle of a screwdriver until you hear it deploy with a definite "bah-doy-nnng" then reset it. They have a habit of furring the contacts, especially if sat for a while and this can often cause the fuel pump to not run. Also try the spare key in case the transponder in your main key has died.
-
I've checked the inertia and it hadn't tripped. So you are correct it's time to get the experts in. I was just going to try a second hand recm as it's an easy swap however can't find an exact part number match.
-
The fuel pump isn't always noticeable when you switch the ignition on so i'd suggest you get someone who has the necessary diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot. You could spend a lot of time (and money!) firing the parts cannon at it without getting any results. It may be something much more simple like the CPS (crankshaft position sensor) causing your non-start.
-
If the pump does not run then first check the inertia switch hasn鈥檛 tripped inadvertently before you go further.

New or Recon Auto Gear boxes for 2.5 S type
JustBadly replied to Stephen Warner's topic in Jaguar S-Type Club
The ZF 6HP26 is so reliable few people have ever asked. The most common fault is when a garage runs the engine without any oil in the transmission. This breaks the pump in the transmission, I have heard of a fire in the transmission that cooked 3rd and 4th. Otherwise a service changing the filter and fluid fixes it. What's the problem?
