Yes, from yesterday my RH HID (d2s) xenon headlight bulb is not working and I cannot see how to replace it.

Does anybody know ?

The s type handbook is quite brief on HID headlamp bulbs.

 

"Where HID lighting is fitted, refer to you Jaguar Dealer/Authorised repairer if the headlamp fails to operate".

 

There is als a note "HID Xenon lamp units Type D2S 35 are not renewable, contact your dealer/authorised repairer if the headlamp fails to operate".

 

I have not seen a description of how to do a replacement for Xenon Bulbs anywhere.

hi can you tell me how you replaced the right hid bulb did you need to take the bumper off

D2S HID bulbs are easily changed and readily available on fleabay for example. Unfortunately, you'll need to remove the bumper to gain access to and remove the light fitting and do the change on a bench.

Hi

The xenon bulb is hidden ridiculosely deep into a totally uneccesary «tube» which ends so close to the cross member that it prevents you from getting your hand or fingers In to the electronic or maybe the high voltage device that sits on top of the bulb itself.

I also think it is ridiculosely too much work to dismantle the whole bumper just to change a bulb.

So,  I decided to cut the «tube» open to get acsess to the bulb. Worked perfect. You have to carefully twist the electronic devise counter clockwise to get it off the bulb. Take special care with a separate earth wire. As far as I remember the bulb itself is fixed simply with som clips. As the tube’s circular end now was destroid by my cutting, I sealed the bulb wit some tape.

I will do the same when the right bulb dies.

Wow, thats a bit aggressive

I replaced both my bulbs for 8k ones, blue tint, took bumper off, removed both head lights, replaced the broken adjusters and cleaned them out , in just under two and half hours

I bet they will steam up now as well, the headlights are quite expensive, even second hand

Joe, I agree, it is a bit aggressive, but as much as I love this car, it is my every day car.

I would never use a similar approach on my 1965 Jaguar E-type 4.2 coupe (which I have restored 100% myself),

or my 1979 XJS V12 coupe, or my1988 Jaguar XJS V12 convertible. or my 1965 Ford Anglia (wife's 50 years present)
