Hi all, I'm Brian, im new to the forum world in general, and a new jaguar owner. I've an 04 X-Type 2.0 Diesel, and it's a fantastic machine. "Based on a Mondeo" thankfully it's nothing like a Mondeo ha. I am at the moment having A slight couple of problems with the car. So I am hoping that I could get some help. But I will create a new thread for that in a minute. I'm looking forwards to speaking to likeminded people here, who respect a good modern classic motor!

Hi Frank, that's good to know, I left a thread in the owners lounge, but what's happened is I've had a total loss of power, the rac came today and put a block in the EGR I think that's what it's called and it got rid of all the white smoke I got continually and got rid of the black smoke when I put my foot hard down. There isn't any turbo problems according to the guy and it all seems in working order but it is just severely under powered, taking almost 30 seconds to hit 60, it's just lost its punch sort of speak. Do I need to wait till the carbon clears out the pipes before I see a difference? What do you think?

Hi Brian,

Try a terraclean service, which at about £120 is well worth it.

I think that the engine is a bit mucky and that will clean the engine fuel system out thoroughly.

Hi Brian,  Just to add to previous posts, I would also check the air filter which is often disregarded.

In respect of the EGR valve/valves I have had some issues with them, as I mostly do short runs.

There is a product called Diesel EGR cleaner from Wynn's which i use occasionally when code P0402 comes up.  It is possible to blank off the EGR valve on a x type which has been done by quite a few owners.

Yeah, I've got it blanked off at the moment, according to the guy who came out, it's not a real necessity to have sorted once it's blanked, I'm hoping I have some improvement when te pipe finally work all the carbon out, but I will deffinatly get some cleaner and try that too.

Thanks

Brian.

Took the Jag to the garage this afternoon, and the reason for my loss of power is a split in the pipe going to the intercooler from the turbo, all the components thaught to be the cause are in great condition, can't believe I missed the Oil drips coming from the bumper!
