HI ALL,YET ANOTHER LTTLE PROBLEM WITH MY XKR. "I CAN'T GET PETROL INTO THE FUEL TANK".  I PUT THE FUEL PIPE NOZZLE INTO THE PIPE, PULL THE TRIGGER AND WITHIN 1 SECOND THE FUEL STOPS FLOWING. NO MATTER HOW GENTLY YOU PRESS THE TRIGGER, OR WHAT ANGLE YOU TURN THE GUN ,IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. I HAVE MADE 2 ATTEMPTS AT DIFFERENT PUMPS WITH THE SAME RESULTS.IT TAKES 5 MINUTES TO PUT 1 GALLON OF FUEL IN THE CAR, AND I DON'T THINK ANY FUEL IS GOING INTO THE TANK AS THE GAUGE IS GETTING LOWER AND LOWER AND THE ONLY USE THE CAR IS GETTING IS TO AND FROM THE PETROL STATION.I AM NOW FACED WITH THE PROBLEM OF NOT HAVING ENOUGH FUEL TO GET TO MY JAG DEALER.

ANY HELPFUL THOUGHTS

Hi Karl

Forgive me if I'm asking the the bleeding obvious, but does the spout go all the way in to the tank? Also is your petrol cap still intact? I'm thinking maybe part of it is still in the filler neck? Definitely sounds like a blockage of some sort to me

Hi Karl,

Following what Steve has said, it does look as if the fuel is "bouncing" back to the pump sprout.  A straightened out wire coat hanger or similar would be a good probe.

I would also be worth getting a petrol container and trying to put it in gently which could at least get you to a dealer.

Good luck

Hi Karl

Just a thought-- I'm not sure with the XK but with the SType there's a rubber hose

between the filler pipe and the tank + a filter at the tank end so if I was you I

would do a check on that end ???? The inside of the rubber pipe could be breaking up.???

Its got to be a blockage because its a back preasure that switch's the fuel pump off.???

Best of Luck.
