Hiya! Im dave, new member here and a first time jag owner. And so far im liking the car.

so my jag is a 2000 mod s type, 4l v8. Very smooth motor!!

i've had the car for 4wks now and it needs a front wheel bearing. Oh the joys of motoring! Haha....

the car was bought in the uk from a from a mates dad who had it for 7yrs, the first owner had it from new untill 08. As i live in spain and work in norway, picking it up took some logistics. So i jumped on a plane to uk from norway, picked up the car and drove to spain, no problem apart from the noisey wheel bearing.

had problems getting a plane back to work, so jumped in the car jag and drove to norway! Hahaha.

So in my ownership its gone nearly 7k kms, which is alot more than in its last 3yrs, and it'll be going back to spain after xmas, another 3k kms, where its gona be staying.

running at a steady 80mph/130kph on the motoeway i am getting 30mpg, very impressed with that!

round town not so much, but i have a heavy right foot.....

overall im very happy with it, and already know what my next car will be, a newer model of the same, when this goes the the happy car park in the sky. And as i only gave £900 for it, its a bargin.......

regards to all.

dave

Welcome to the cub, David.

You certainly gave your car a good road test!

The S Type is a great car to drive, and is still a hear turner.  I have one of the last produced, a bit slower than your, but still very quick & when you put your foot down the twin turbo diesel shows amazing acceleration.

Regards,

Peter.

hiya pete. Yeah they're a very nice car. Unfortunetly some ringpiece has pulled my leaper off during the night! First thoughts on this are, hammer meets culprits fingers!! Second thought is, !Removed! hell, looks really sleak without. Though i will replace/repair when im in spain, just because of the heritage factor........

thats a damn nice motor you have mate, looks the business. Always loved the xkr, but these s types are a real bargin, so i think the next one will be a str. But not for a yr or 2.

regards,

dave

Hi Dave and a warm welcome to THE Jaguar OWNERS CLUB. Must say at £900 you have had your monies worth already in terms of flight fares although, I'm getting a lot more than 30 to the gallon with my supercharged 4.2ltr V8 XKR, maybe because its more aerodynamic. I went to London last week and drove back and forth to my hotel daily which equalled 417 miles on £60 and I have also got an heavy right foot especially when I finished work on the Friday and just focussed on getting home for the weekend.

hiya ken. Not so bad at all that!! Aye, money well spent i think, but i love the xkr. Would really, really like to own one, maybe instead of an str if i can find a good one when i deside to change. Maybe the 4.2 is alittle better on fuel?? Plus its in a (swoon) xkr. Hahaha

thankyou and peter for the warm welcome...

regards,

dave
