Ivory trim paint

Featured Replies

Hi all

Proud owner of an X Type with ivory trim . . . that has some scratches on the centre console, i.e. the plastic bit, not the leather. Anyone got any idea of where I can get some touch-up paint?

All I seem to be able to find is stuff to do the leather . . .

Hope you can help!

Graham

Hi Graham,

Welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club.

I can't answer your question but would be very pleased to see the answer as I am in the same situation as yourself, except that I have a small trim panel to fit which isn't quite Ivory and will look out of place unless I can get it coloured.

Hi Guys

The Ivory color and repair dye thats works on the leather, should work on your trim

If you have a scratch, touch up the scratch first with a cloth, then go over the whole panel and it should cover it

cheers

Joe

Hi Graham, and welcome to the club.

I take it that when you say the "plastic bit" that you mean the grained maple veneer or burr walnut in some cases.

We have four tables in our house, one in the dining room, one in the breakfast room and two coffee tables --  all of which are wooden [Ercol] and are between 49 and 33 years old.  They are used every day and from toddlers to adults via teenagers. They can easily acquire scratches.

Your centre console needs cleaning first,  and I recommend mayonnaise, which in my opinion, is the best use for mayonnaise. Dry it off after 30 minutes and then apply a scratch removing polish.  I use Pledge Polish and scratch remover which costs around £5 from Sainsburys.

If it isn't the wood veneer you now know what mayonnaise should be used for.

Regards,

Peter.

Blimey! What a helpful community - thank you! To confirm - it's the ivory trim, not the wood. I'll try that leather paint. Ordered some off Repair Wizard, who seem to have stopped trading.

Hi Graham,

i have used Humbrol modlers enamal paint in the past, you can buy in Matt finish and blend with other-colours to get the correct colour to suit your plastic trim, I've found it to be the best solution for me.

Now here's the challenge , below is a pic of my centre console with a 2"sq  area that I've touched up with Humbrol, who can tell me where it is

cheers, Andrew
