Hi all, try as I might cannot reset the service message light came on last week.

Tried the reset procedure seen on various posts to no avail.

What happens if I ignore it?

Had the oil/filter changed about 6weeks ago.

Should I do a 'hard reset' taking the battery leads off, or can it be reset with a code reader?

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Stuart,

The short answer is that you will need to follow the reset procedure, unless you know someone with access to the Jaguar OBD system.

I have done it 4 times now and am getting quite good at it!

Practice makes perfect.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Stuart,

Like Peter, I've never had a problem with the reset procedure.

Please can you post exactly what you are doing?

After persevering with the reset method for the umpteenth time finally managed to reset!! I decided not to wait for the 'click' and it worked first time!!

Thanks to all.....

Ive had my car since December 2014 and have gone from 92k to 109k in that time and have never had the service light/reminder come on...

is my car broke??

Hi Andy I read somewhere that the ecu 'knows' when the service is due, I had the oil changed by a local garage and forgot to reset after that.

My car came off the production line on the 13th March 2007.  The service message comes on in April every year.

Andy, your car now lives in Wales, and the ECU does not cross national boundaries,

Peter.
