Hi everyone,

I have had my S-Type for several yaers now and am very pleased with it. Because it is left for several days at a time and only does short trips I have recently fitted a solar battery maintainer to keep the battery topped up. According to the instructions it has to be unplugged when the car is started/running.

What I want to do is fit a relay to cut off the solar panel while the ignition is on.

My question is this - what fuse (preferably in the cabin or boot) can I tap that will supply power not only with ignition on but also during cranking. The latter is important as I do not want to fry the panel with back EMF / power surge. I have tested the cabin auxiliary power, but it seems to disconnect when the ignition is in position III. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
