New younger s type owner

Hi, just bought my first jaguar at 23 years old-am i possibly one of the youngest owners on here? She's a 2006 2.7d that has been in the family since new. Been having a few issues regarding a dccv valve but after a replacement and a replacement climate control module she's all good now, it wasn't so bad as included in the sale from my brother, was a donor car so I'm not too short on any parts that I may require and hopefully save myself a few bob!

thanks Colin.

Welcome. I think I'm fair way below average age at 35, I reckon you probably are the youngest.

A donor car's a great thing to have. My advice is to make a list of all the bits you know don't work on it or you've already taken off, it can save a lot of aggro later..

A faulty DCCV can often cause a climate control module fault on face lift cars like yours. I messed about with one for ages before finding out that someone had not only done it all before but written down everything it took me a day to work out. http://jaguarclimatecontrol.com/diagnose/

If it's an auto then it's worth changing the gearbox Oil at 60k. Jaguar say it's filled for life, that's nonsense.

Yes I suppose these cars are deemed to made for the older driver, maybe why I get other drivers looking me ha!

The dccv was switched from my donor car, but the problem of warm air was still occurring, after various research I realised that the climate control module had a burned out circuit, after a while tracing the circuit and soldering the problem was fixed, quite impressed with myself as I wouldn't say I'm great at that type of work. The gearbox Oil has been changed twice now as the car currently has 177k on it and still drives like new, my brother who owned the car previously bought a xf and maintains it isn't as half a good driving car as the s type and wished he never sold it.

I quite like the funny looks. Mind you I could be well within the age demographic and still not match the image of the car..

Well done for diving in there and repairing it. I would have thought a fuse of a breaker of some sort between the DCCV and control unit would save it next time. My car has the older unit so I haven't really looked into it to be honest.

That's great knowing that it has a good service history. His loss is your gain!
