Hi All ... I was driving the other day (slowly) .. pressed the brake pedal and ..... nothing .. solid brake pedal.  No servo assist.  Got it home .. called the AA and a very nice man said the vacuum pipe seemed to have popped off hence lack of vacuum.  So he put it back on ... unfortunately ive lost brakes again today so decided to have a look .. pulled the vacuum pipe out and discovered the seal/grommet has split and is therefore not holding pressure. Does anyone know where I can get this rubber seal .... (sits at the front of the vacuum pump under master cylinder) .. its about 37 mm across with a centre hole of about 17 mm ... Cant seem to find it anywhere apart from attached to a very expensive pump / servo unit

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately none of the above able to assist ..cant seem to find the grommet anywhere .. or a second hand servo .. part number is 6R83-2B195-BC (Servo) ... Anyone have any idea what may fit (or have one lying around) as getting desperate now ...

I have the same car as you Steve. I fitted the servo from a XF 3.0 diesel. It's identical to the S-Type diesel servo.

Only cost me £30 from a local breaker's yard and hasn't missed a beat for two years.

Hello Steve076

I assume you are referring to the Brake Booster  Servo unit. The Vacuum pump is fitted to the rear of the engine.

You are quite correct the  seal/grommet is a permanent part of the construction of the very expensive brake booster servo.

A secondhand vacuum tube can be got from SMG Wolverhampton for about £25 to £30 and this includes in its construction

the NRV or Check Valve in its assembly. But assuming the NRV is working properly this isn't the bit you need.

You need the expensive Servo which can be got from David Manners and SNG Barratt  plus others for up to £600 (not even Jaguar prices).

I am in the same pickle. My car is now SORN until I fix it.

Dave
