Hi, I have a 2010 XF 3.0 diesel, which has halogen headlights. My night vision is not as good as it was (when I was younger!) and I would like to convert to Xenon by using a conversion kit. I have heard different views on whether this can be carried out successfully. Has anyone experience of this which would help me?

Based upon recent experience, you might find LED headlights better than xenon.

In addition, standard headlight reflectors tend to disperse xenon bulb light in such a way as to cause dazzle, whereas LED bulbs seem to be eminently suited to standard reflectors.

Just a thought Bill.

I uprated the standard headlights on my s type to similar bulbs with 20% more power, which I find fits the bill.  Headlight bulbs are not cheap but the offer from Halfords was 2 for the price of 1 and with 15% discount it was not that expensive,

Like you, I had standard halogen headlights on my s type which I changed to the "30% more light" and while there was some noticeable difference, they were not anyway near as good as when I changed them to LED's - Brilliant (quite literally).

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to go with it. The led units seem quite expensive ( I don't know which ones you used?) but the fitting process seems less complicated.

Regards,

bill.

Be advised.

Led headlight bulbs may cause an issue at mot as they are brighter than what is regarded as legal.

Simple answer is swap the dip beams back to halogen before mot then swap them back afterwards
