In the process of purchasing a 1997 XK8 with 69k miles on the clock. FJSH. On the receipts for service work noticed that the cam chain and tensioners were changed at 56k miles, The work was carried out in November 2005. My question to the group is which type of tensioners were fitted part numbers C26A08, 09, 10.  Are these the later steel bodied tensioners or the upgraded plastic types. Who can tell me?

I've heard the engine start up and running from stone cold and it is very quiet, in fact the guy who was doing the headlining where I viewed the car owns an x100 and he commented on how quiet it was. Credit to the guy, he went round round the car with me and commented apart from some obvious paint issues which have been addressed by the owner that it is a very tidy car and a good buy. Pick up the car on Saturday subject to a healthy compression test and service later this week.

Will it be a cover off and check when the snows come?

Thanks in anticipation, Martin
