Is there a way of changing the battery so I dont have to reprogram the car. Many thanks

Hi Euan,
When I had mine replaced at Halfords, I asked the chap doing the replacement to keep a connection, so he got another battery and connected it to the car via the diagnostic socket to the right of the steering column. It seemed like he knew what was needed and the change went ahead with no issues whatsoever! (phew!)

Thanks Jon, that's great how much were you for your battery, I have a 3.0 v6 diesel and prices have ranged between £140 and £250

Hi

If you have an AGM battery with a Stop/Start system make sure you replace with an AGM battery. They are more expensive but they are what is required.

Regards

John

Hi Euan,

I think it was about £180. My XF is a 3.0l XF-S, battery is now a couple of years old and showing no signs of deterioration (fingers crossed!!!). I don't think AGM batteries were a requirement for 2011 cars, but I might go that way when the current one needs replacing.

Thank you Jon your input has been most helpful 👍. I'll give halfords a call tomorrow, hopefully I'll get someone with the same knowledge as you did cheers.

AA or RAC offer battery services and have right kit to do it properly, I find halford and some of the staff dont have a scooby 🙂

hi

Hi

Can anyone recommend a replacement battery for my  2010 3.0 Petrol XF.

Many thanks

Go to the Kwik Fit website and locate the "Batteries" tab, enter your registration number and post code, then press search. The website does all the work for you and then you can do a search for the best price for the battery you select - do not have to purchase from Kwik Fit.

Note that the most important attribute to your selected replacement should be dimensions. It MUST fit into the battery tray and be held securely in place, it would be an MoT failure if not secured.

once you find a battery, try the battery mega store, order before 12 and get it next day, a lot cheaper than most shops

cheers

Joe

Thanks guys, BMS have the right battery at the right price (pretty much the lowest around).

And next day delivery, thanks.

Battery Mega Store are one of the best battery suppliers out there, great prices and fast delivery.

Just bought a Yuasa 9000 stop-start battery for my recently acquired 2021 XF P300 Sportbreak online from Tanya batteries - around £30 less than BMS. £30 to fit at my local garage today and all seems well.

I hope this is a helpful tip.

Hopefully now the dreaded software updates will start to kick in!

Yup. I always use Tayna. Best supplier out there!

Its hit and miss with batteries, they all have deals on at certain times

I just bought a Varta 019 AGM from BMS and it was £20 cheaper than Tanya

great service though, they always come next day.

I'd still buy from Tayna, still the best supplier.

Im not surprised though, because you quoted someone called 'Tanya', whoever she is  😉 😂

I got a Yuasa battery from work.It was £117 including vat cost price about a month ago and got a local garage to fit it while the car was being serviced.I work for a large scottish motor factor and it helps...sometimes.

If you get discount, them I'm sure it does....as £117 sounds well cheap 😉

....Just make sure it is an AGM or it will almost certainly fail before you expect....

Yes it's a AGM stop/start battery.
