Issues with starting xe diesel

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I’m sure you have done this topic before but couldn’t find it. I have just returned to jag ownership with an xe r sport 2.0 diesel. This morning in the freezing cold I went to start it and ….nothing!

The battery is good…no warning lights …just no start!.

You guys are so good with ideas on issues. Please could someone advise me on possible issues?

Thanks in anticipation

Is the battery good as you say. S-Types are notorious with battery drain, with the very cold weather added into the equation it could in fact be that the battery is not good.

Hi guys. Finally sorted the issue. It’s a combination of a faulty starter and an original 5 year old battery that isn’t holding charge. Into the garage asap for work and then hopefully issue sorted.

thanks for the help and advise. Missed owning a jag and now I’ve returned to them hope this is the only silly issue!

Even with a new battery the use of a CTEK MS 7 charger/re-condition can save you a lot of problems in the future. I swear by mine, as do many others on this forum.

Best Wishes and Regards, John
