Hi I have a x type 2.1 and when I drive it it jolts once or twice then OK it normally happens when I slow down say when I'm in third gear then speed up or if I put my foot down hard. I have replaced the crank case breather pipe but it is still doing it I have no warning lights up at all and it starts and idles OK any ideas guys thanks.

Hi yes I found the problem it was worn out spark plugs I changed them it runs like a dream now so id suggest you try the spark plugs first mine got so bad when I gave it some hard acceleration the engine management light would flash and it would lose power for about 20seconds then come back to life .dont be put off by the inlet manifold its easy to remove and put back I looked on youtube for a guide. hope you have some luck finding your problem.

I just got mine from Halfords ngk didnt need to regap they are all ready set . As for the gap.distance you will probably find that on here let me know if that cures it .

:D hello,,, i have replaced the plugs+coil packs this afternoon,run the engine through sequence to clear the codes,now i am just left with p1111 ,so i think all is now well (fingers crossed) i can accellerate full throttle now right through the gears without engine jolting ,as you said "it runs like a dream" thanks for your advice,

My Jag has the same problem currently though the spark plugs were replaced like at around 90k and now its at 119K. This shouldn't be the issue then. Yeh I honestly need a second opinion and of course. I don't have problem with the car performance its just that it jerks/jolts at around 90kph

I would still check the plugs if I was you because one or two of them

could be breaking down under pressure or the gap not what it should be ???

try cleaning plugs and coils ,it fixed my freinds  x type ,but i replaced mine as it didnt work for me,new plugs from CARPARTS4LESS thats were i got mine from, ngk they were the cheapest online supplier i found,coil packs from ebay- just make  sure same serial number , good luck.
