Hi Steve, My S Type is the first car I have had wth an electrically heated windscreen. On my 1962 Triumph Herald a demister was an optional extra and not fitted, and so a cloth and the quarter light open was the only way to keep the windscreen clear when driving. Car heaters were also optional extras, and a warm coat, scarf, gloves and cap were necessary in the winter. I still use my 1964 model Sheepskin Jacket! Regards, Peter.

Hi Andy i would think without a heated front screen option being fitted, there is no means or any other method of heating it, other than your normal defrost / heater blower. The guys will correct me of course if I'm wrong. i would think it quite safe to get your screen replaced without any concerns. I'm pretty sure my screen has the heating filaments built in, but clearly not connected up. Regards Steve

Hi Andy I have the same year as you, and I don't have a heated front screen, I'm pretty sure they were optional, I am presuming you don't have the satnav, if you do I don't know where the button would be. image from JaguarClimateControl.com Hope this helps Regards Steve
