  1. Hello, fellow Jaguar enthusiasts, I'm John Kattenhorn, and I'm excited to finally be joining this community. I've been promising myself to get more involved since January! My recent journey with Jaguar began in 2021. My wife and I have always had a passion for unique vehicles, which led us to acquire two Jaguars - an I-Pace for our company and an F-Type R as a retirement gift. The F-Type was particularly special as a substitute for our motorcycle adventures, which my wife was enjoying less. I mostly did the longer rides to spend time with her. 🙂 The F-Type R has been our faithful companion, especially during the summer months. It has significantly reshaped our travel preferences. Since COVID-19, we've found joy in exploring Europe's scenic routes in the F-Type, favoring it over flying. We are pretty excited to be awaiting the arrival of our new F-Pace SVR next Tuesday. It's set to replace our I-Pace as our daily driver. We've had only one issue with the I-Pace's charging flap, but aside from that, it's been flawless. I'll be sad to see it go. Surprisingly, I find myself feeling nostalgic about the Jaguars we are losing as the brand progresses through its transformation. I'm here to contribute to the community, share experiences, and learn. Looking forward to an engaging and enriching experience here. Best regards, John

  2. The XK8 is Kate for obvious reasons and the X350 is Big Bertha although my wife has other names for it when trying to find the perfect parking place in the seemingly tiny spaces at the supermarket.

  6. Hi Folks! Newbie here and I will explain. I have acquired a trike with, I'm led to believe, an 'S' type back end but I'm going to pose some questions in the technical forum, assuming only having 1/2 a Jag counts?!

  8. I’ll put some ideas forward and suggested dates soon. However won’t be Jenyns Arms as I believe that closed a good while back.

  9. Sounds good Ian - just so you (and everyone else is aware) there may be times when i can't make it at the last minute if that alters the numbers any. When i had my Rover and attended the All Rover Monthly Meet, we used to go to the British Queen at Melbourne. Nice place but a fair hike for me, about 40 miles each way. Knowing you're from west Norfolk (if memory serves) and seeing the comments above from both Terry and Jason, i would make a suggestion of the Jenyns Arms at Denver just south of Downham Market. That seems to be a reasonably central location for those of us who are interested so far?

  12. Always check the battery. Just because some stuff is working does not mean it is OK. Central locking and windows can go wrong when the battery is not up to scratch—I'm just saying this because it is a cheap thing to do and will avoid that day when it won't start!

  13. Evening, I'm the proud owner of a 1997 XJ6 Executive I won on a raffle. I've never been in one or driven one, so absolute novice and learner here with Jaguar brand. I've got the logbook in my name and I've taxed it. Waiting for Adrian Flux to call me tomorrow, but quoted £253.99 for fully comp insurance. Collect next Saturday in Montrose and can start adventuring 😄 It shall need O/S/F sill welded, radio looked into and the advisories sorted (bushes all round pretty much), plus TLC on the roof paint, but all minor stuff. It may even do Rust2Rome (Edinburgh to Rome) via the French Alps if I can convince my friend to leave his Suzuki Swift at home 😉 3.2l, straight 6, Executive X300 body. Think I might have to wear black and silver next week to compliment the car, plus a backpack of "stuff" just in case lol

  14. Hi. I'm glad we could sort your insurance for you. Have you managed to resolve the Thatcham security issue? Regards, Dan.

  15. I have decided to sell my 2004 Jaguar X-Type saloon - Reg BJ54 KKH. It has a proper ULEZ conversation which means that it can run on LPG at 0.99 per litre. It runs well and rides beautifully. I am London based - near the end of the M1 motorway

  16. Hi Peter Glad you got it sorted, and thanks for the update. Always nice to know how people have actually solved the problems rather than just having a list of problems and suggestions for solving them which may or may not have worked. 🙂 John

  17. Being a law obiding individual I took Charlie to the vets this week to get him "chipped". Very disappointed with the outcome though. No faster and certainly no better economy. (Charlie, by the way, is a half bred Bengal)

  18. Update! The problem turned out to be a worn compressor and a slightly flat battery. The latter was easily resolved but the compressor turned into a saga. I had a new piston ring in my spares stash which I seem to remember buying because it came with free desiccant for the drier. I fitted the new ring and the message was still there. On the bench the compressor struggled to reach 5 bar never mind 14. A new, proper ring saved the day , restored compression and broke the daily routine of removing the compressor. We never have time to do a job properly yet find time to do it twice.....or three times. The moral of the story is 'Only buy the original Bagpiping Andy kit or risk becoming very efficient at removal and replacement of the compressor.

  20. The DAB radio in my 2008 XF has stopped working. (The rest of the audio system works fine). My local friendly car-electrics guy says the DAB module needs replacing, but if I get a second-hand one (a new one is around £450+VAT - not worth it for a 10-year-old car) it will need to be re-coded to the car. My local Jag dealer says that re-coding is not necessary, or indeed possible, and that if I get a second-hand unit fitted it should work. Before I shell out £80-100 for a second-hand DAB unit, is there anyone out there who has any experience of this and can advise me, please?

  21. Hi all, I am a new member after picking up my first Jag yesterday, a XFS very happy with it so far. I am just wondering looking for a Jag specialist to work on my car when the time is required. I am more than happy to a lot of job myself, so mostly thinking about having the specialist do the cambelt and gearbox service when needed. So far I know of J-Cat and the Jag centre in Norwich. Anyone used these or know of any others.

  23. Evening All, I have a 2006 XK 4.2 Convertible which i have owned for 2 + years without any trouble to date, it's been a truly great car. However just today i have no windscreen washers even though the resorvoir bottle is full and the wipers work just fine, Any ideas what could be the problem would be appreciated? Regards, Paul.

  24. Hi Russ, Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. Probably over the top - but I have covered just about all the mechanicals so figured it was worth doing. Will never recoup the investment through a sale - but that is true for us all. I am ascertaining the new panel cost and where the fabricator is not a fan of chinese kits for sills etc he is making them, same for the lower arches. £300 of the cost is wheel refurb - so not all bad !! Thanks again, Regards Dominic

  25. Morning Ian, I'm no mechanic either however i did try to DIY it but just removing the screws holding the wheel arch plastic cover was imposible, someone had tried before and in the process ruined them so will need to be drilled out. Looks like it's not difficult to remove the bottle for cleaaning it out together with the filter, take a look at this video should you decide to DIY.

  29. Morning John. The car has been laid up over winter so that could be part of the problem. The message came back a couple of times over the weekend but now the codes tell me that it's 'Reservoir pressure implausible' which I think usually points to compressor. All wheel heights look fine and the compressor was overhauled a few years ago. Going for a run today with the icarsoft plugged in and my long suffering better half recording data. If she doesn't get bored and we don't fall out I'll report back.

  32. So after a few bits pulled and cleaned including Egr, few sensors and intake manifold, I found the top boost hose had a small split, replaced it and 50yards down the road the bottom split, changed that and all much much better.

  33. Hi Paul, the job is definitely a DIY job though it will be a bit fiddly. Personally, I would remove the bottle from the car so it can be throughly cleaned out. This will also give better access for the filter which will just require cleaning rather than replacement. Be mindful of any O seals that may be fitted. Dont forget to blow through the lines also.
    1 point
  34. Hi Paul, No need to replace the blades. Pull off the pipes and try again. If you still have no water then your most likely problem will be gunge at the bottom of the washer bottle blocking the filter. You will probably end up removing the bottle to facilitate proper cleaning and it would also be prudent to blow through the pipes with compressed air, just in case.

  35. Hi all i just acquired a Jaguar Mk10 and wondered where the best place to buy a replacement exhaust system I could fit as there are more holes in it than is healthy ! It’s blowing all over the place ….from the forward box to the split and the two boxes and to the end of the tail pipes so basically irreparable

  37. Not sure what part of Norfolk you are in and although technically in Cambridgeshire, there is Jagutek in Ely : http://jagutek.co.uk/ Not used them myself but have heard good reports. I'm not 100% certain on the later cars (mine is a 1999 S Type 3.0 V6 SE) but it seems most of the petrol AJ--V- engines used chain drives for the camshafts, i believe the 2.0 Ecoboost uses a timing belt immersed in oil surprisingly - unsurprisingly regular oil and filter changes are essential to preserve longevity! I may be wrong on that, Jaguar may have altered it somewhat but i know a lot of the Ecoboost engines use that arrangement. With the autoboxes, most were "sealed for life" although the WSM recommends changing the fluid at 80k miles if used in "extreme conditions". What those extreme conditions are, it doesnt really specify. Again, this may have changed on later models so it's worth getting to know exactly what engine and transmission you have and working the exact requirements out from there.

  42. Hello, My name is James and I am now the proud owner of "The jag Centre" in Spixworth Norwich, Norfolk.😊 So i bought the place in April 2019 and i am slowly making changes and improvements from the last owner "Barry" Everything is mostly the same using the jaguar IDS system (same as main dealer use) and same technicians, plus we are half the cost of the main dealer. We also have 5 jaguar loan cars.I do not sell cars like Barry did as i did not want that part of the business. If i do get any to sell they will be posted on the facebook page My partner Nikki mans the phones and she will deal with you directly. You will even get a coffee while you wait. We have a facebook page, instagram as well these were lacking. And we are looking to give all our customers cards that offer a discount on every job they have done. We have had customers come in from jaguar forums saying they thought the place had closed due to Barry's retirement, so i hope this clears things up.. We are 100% still open :-) Regards James

  43. As a child I remember watching a series 2 XJ6 driving past every weekday and promised myself i would one day have one. Then some years later my father invited me to join him taking a series 3 sovereign 4.2 for a test drive. I was drooling at the prospect of my dad owning a jag, knowing that i'd get a drive in it too. My father never got that series 3, it was longer than his garage. Models came and went, most of which I liked but could never afford. Then, this year I was able to retire early and despite my wife not liking them, i've just got myself a retirement present. I am now the proud and very chuffed owner of a Jaguar XF 3L diesel. It's only taken me 55 years, but i got there in the end.

  44. Hi. Just joined here, but had my 2002 2.5 V6 S Type for nearly a year now. My father had a 3.4 litre Jaguar Mark 2 when I was growing up and I always said I would have a Jaguar one day. I bought it as a second car but I am using it more than expected! My (now elderly) father finds it easier to get into than my main car and loves being taken out in it. My kids instinctively appreciate it when I have them- "Can we go out in the Jag all the time while we are here?" I love it and I'm glad I bought it!
