  1. A small word of warning on the use of the one touch fob button for roof raise and lower. Whilst it is a nice trick, the recommendation is NEVER raise or lower the roof of a convertible without the engine running. i.e. don't rely on the battery to do the work. Batteries in the X-150 have a hard life and I have always recommended that the battery be replaced at 5 years old. Many, many spurious faults arise from a poor battery and in today's world, the ability to start the car is not the best indication of its health.

  2. Hello, fellow Jaguar enthusiasts, I'm John Kattenhorn, and I'm excited to finally be joining this community. I've been promising myself to get more involved since January! My recent journey with Jaguar began in 2021. My wife and I have always had a passion for unique vehicles, which led us to acquire two Jaguars - an I-Pace for our company and an F-Type R as a retirement gift. The F-Type was particularly special as a substitute for our motorcycle adventures, which my wife was enjoying less. I mostly did the longer rides to spend time with her. 🙂 The F-Type R has been our faithful companion, especially during the summer months. It has significantly reshaped our travel preferences. Since COVID-19, we've found joy in exploring Europe's scenic routes in the F-Type, favoring it over flying. We are pretty excited to be awaiting the arrival of our new F-Pace SVR next Tuesday. It's set to replace our I-Pace as our daily driver. We've had only one issue with the I-Pace's charging flap, but aside from that, it's been flawless. I'll be sad to see it go. Surprisingly, I find myself feeling nostalgic about the Jaguars we are losing as the brand progresses through its transformation. I'm here to contribute to the community, share experiences, and learn. Looking forward to an engaging and enriching experience here. Best regards, John

  10. Morning Leigh, I recently updated the maps in my XK which still had the original maps since the car was new (2006) If your XF has the same system as my XK which has the DVD player in the boot then it's a simple job to update the maps with a new disk, I bought mine from Sat Navi Shops, here is a link https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/ Just buy the latest disc from them for your car model and job done, mine works perfectly now!

  11. Hi John and Ian, I've just joined having recently bought an X-Type 2l TD. However, I'm not new to Jags: my father had several and I have previously owned an XJS plus a Daimler Sovereign when I was much younger, lol.

  15. Hi Folks! Newbie here and I will explain. I have acquired a trike with, I'm led to believe, an 'S' type back end but I'm going to pose some questions in the technical forum, assuming only having 1/2 a Jag counts?!

  16. I’ll put some ideas forward and suggested dates soon. However won’t be Jenyns Arms as I believe that closed a good while back.

  17. Sounds good Ian - just so you (and everyone else is aware) there may be times when i can't make it at the last minute if that alters the numbers any. When i had my Rover and attended the All Rover Monthly Meet, we used to go to the British Queen at Melbourne. Nice place but a fair hike for me, about 40 miles each way. Knowing you're from west Norfolk (if memory serves) and seeing the comments above from both Terry and Jason, i would make a suggestion of the Jenyns Arms at Denver just south of Downham Market. That seems to be a reasonably central location for those of us who are interested so far?

  21. Always check the battery. Just because some stuff is working does not mean it is OK. Central locking and windows can go wrong when the battery is not up to scratch—I'm just saying this because it is a cheap thing to do and will avoid that day when it won't start!

  22. Hi. I'm glad we could sort your insurance for you. Have you managed to resolve the Thatcham security issue? Regards, Dan.

  23. Hi Peter Glad you got it sorted, and thanks for the update. Always nice to know how people have actually solved the problems rather than just having a list of problems and suggestions for solving them which may or may not have worked. 🙂 John

  24. Being a law obiding individual I took Charlie to the vets this week to get him "chipped". Very disappointed with the outcome though. No faster and certainly no better economy. (Charlie, by the way, is a half bred Bengal)

  25. Update! The problem turned out to be a worn compressor and a slightly flat battery. The latter was easily resolved but the compressor turned into a saga. I had a new piston ring in my spares stash which I seem to remember buying because it came with free desiccant for the drier. I fitted the new ring and the message was still there. On the bench the compressor struggled to reach 5 bar never mind 14. A new, proper ring saved the day , restored compression and broke the daily routine of removing the compressor. We never have time to do a job properly yet find time to do it twice.....or three times. The moral of the story is 'Only buy the original Bagpiping Andy kit or risk becoming very efficient at removal and replacement of the compressor.
