Our very own Peter Lightfoot aka Old Peter (moderator and contributor to the JOC) has published a new book about the history of Jaguar and below is a brief synopsis:
A unique perspective of the Jaguar car company over the decades and the people that made the company and motoring history.
So many superbly illustrated and technically explicit books have been written about Jaguar cars over the long and successful existence of the marque, but not many have been written about ‘the people’ that created and shaped the future of the Jaguar brand.
This book is dedicated to the bosses and employees that made the Jaguar brand a truly legendary car brand, recognised and respected worldwide, both on the roads and the race tracks. Now available as an e-Book, this new book giving an insight into the history of the cars and the people that created the world-leading prestige car marque

With all the bad news thats going around lately, let's all keep our chin up with a bit of music.
Let's run a "Your song of the day" using YouTube videos
Pop a new song up daily and keep it going!
Hotel California by the Eagles .... chilled song with lovely calming scenery in the video, makes you think of the long awaited Summer

Hi Mark....welcome to the Forum
Not sure but if the body shape & size hasn't changed between earlier and later models then it should fit the same
-
Could it be that the pollen filter is fitted the wrong way round.....e.g. air flow direction?
Had this occur on my Nissan X-Trail and certainly improved with the interior not misting up
-
Very nice indeed!
Would like to know how its all going after a week or so....feel free to post a short review on it if you wish -
I would definitely change the water pump as it is in the same area and involves removing common components to access it in the future so would make economical sense to do it as well as the cambelt.
-
I only ever buy oils that comply with the exact specifications for the ACEA (which should satisfy the JLR specs) and viscosity (although this can be dropped up or down slightly) but with regards to quantity then I would rather buy more as cheaper than 1 litre bottles and have some more for top ups.
-
I wonder if it could be a worn suspension component but it should show up with a lever bar inserted into the correct places to show excessive movement.
Other areas to look at could be loose / excessive play in the calipers where they mount to the carrier, worn wheel bearings, testing run out on the discs in-situ, etc

Hi Darren....welcome to the Club
Great choice of car...the XFRS is definitely one to be reckoned with !
I think you definitely have the right idea with regards to over-servicing as this will lead to a greater reliability and drivability and usually show up anything untoward occurring hopefully before it becomes an (expensive) issue.
Keep us updated on your search for 'the right car' and good luck
Cheers, Trevor

Hi Andrew.....welcome to the Club
The car looks superb and you seem to have got a bargain there!
The good thing is that the check list you had seems to be complete, especially as it seems to have been cherished by the previous owner.Mileage is not a big problem and it has got there by its merits as a good car and having been maintained correctly.
Timing chains should not be an issue if the Oil and filter has been changed frequently and quality parts and fluid fitted.
Good to have you onboard
Cheers . Trevor

Hi Tony......welcome to the Club
Its a fine looking XJ and lovely for it to be fully loaded and original.
It's waited this long to come out of hibernation whats a little longer on the scale of things I suppose.
The pump may settle down once its been used for a while, best bet is wait and see what occurs.
