  1. It would seem that König Summit XXL K77 fits 265/40/22 https://konigchain.com/fitguide-consumer/ And that Scandinavian dealers may have what you're looking for https://www.thansen.no/bil/utstyr/vinterutstyr/snokjetting/22-dekk/n909306/
  2. So the workshop manual may have generic sections, because I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere. But, while investigating that, I decided to clean and lubricate the folding mechanism. After blowing out spoonfuls of grit and spraying with PTFE, they worked perfectly. 😀 Until I put the covers back on, that is. 😣 Guess I'll have to remove and disassemble them completely, which is something that may happen any day from now. 😉
  3. According to the workshop manual "Automatic dipping of the exterior mirrors when reversing is fitted as part of the memory pack. With the ignition switch in position II and the reverse gear selected, automatic dipping will be initiated." Ours doesn't. Does that mean we don't have the memory pack or that there's a problem somewhere?
  4. Back home again and from the outside it looks very good. 😀
  5. Well, then. The dealer has had it for a week and on Friday said it's ready to come home again. As you can understand, I was a bit sceptical and asked for pictures of the work in progress. They didn't have any, but said that not only did they replace the sills, but also took care of some minor rust on the wheel arches and at the bottom of the rear door. 🙂 I hate to be difficult, but at the same time I like to get what I think I'm owed. This was more than we asked for and as the original deal was 50/50, we offered to pay our half of it. We also tried psychology on them, saying that if it's as good as they say, we'll buy our next car from them. But if it turns out to be not ok, I'll be angry. Haven't heard back from them about that, but we'll pick it up on Monday anyway. Yay! 😀
  6. We know where you live. Ours has 190.000km (or close to 120.000 of your units of measurement) and still in very good condition (one previous owner and all services at Jaguar Norway) except for the sills that we hope the dealer will accept responsibility for. Up here, I haven't seen any V8 S-Types.
  7. Sorry, it didn't show in the pictures, but the sun roof is still there. I've never been a big fan of them, but it's nice to have sometimes. And contrary to popular belief, Norway can be very warm in the summer; 25C and up is common. 😎
  8. I'm in two minds about both. On the one hand, a leaper would be nice, but then on the other hand, making holes feels just wrong. The mesh grille looks very nice, but it's not original and a bit R-lookin. The mesh grille is likely to happen at some point in time, though. Since they put the steering wheel on the wrong side, I'll try to counter that by driving on the wrong side of the road. 🙂
  9. I love this car! 😀 The favourite wife is completely happy, too. But I'm sure she wants a XK8 also. 🤩 The Q5 was nice, but it didn't have any personality at all. The people at Kapp Bil og Karosseri did a good job 👍 and the next step is taking it back to the dealer to find out what they're going to do about the sills. 😐
  10. Funny you should say that. I've been telling my friends lately how the favourite wife has started swooning over XK8/XKR ads.
  11. Apparently, there's only one sun roof frame left in the whole wide world and it's in the United Arab Emirates. And the prefered mode of shipping seems to be by camel, because we've been waiting for two months now. In the mean time, we have a Audi Q5. Nice car, but not something we would ever consider buying (unless someone held a gun to or collective head and told us to choose a SUV we would consider buying).
  12. First of all, let it be clear that I never named a vehicle in my life. This is all the work of the favourite wife. Some of you may know that the garage tent collapsed under the snow and put dents/holes in the hood, the roof and the trunk. Thankfully, we're fully covered. The car is now painted and almost ready to come home from the local body shop, except that they're still waiting for the moon roof console or something like that. The first one they got from Jaguar Norway was wrong and now they're waiting for one that's coming all the way from the UAE. They also found rust in the sills, after the dealer allegedly took care of that under warranty in October. It seems to me that all they did was smear something on the sills without welding or repairing. When we get it back, we're taking it back to the dealer to let them take care of the sills. They're decent people, so hopefully we don't have to take legal action. I'll keep you posted.
  13. Takras (litt. roof avalanche). A little bit of digging so I could open the door, then 4x4 low gear and vrrrroooommmm!!! Had I liked SUVs and been rich, I'd buy a F-Pace, but I don't and I'm not, so I won't. The S-Type is still in the shop by the way. Waiting for parts, I guess.
  14. I give up. What could she mean? From your previous and eloquent post, it seems clear to me that you too need one of the aforementioned Avant 500-series. They come with 4wd and telscopic boom as standard, you know.
  15. Every once in a while I suggest that we lay asphalt over the whole thing. Or make everything flat and get one of those robot mowers. None of which seem to be happening in the foreseeable future
  16. Agreed on the film. And apropos: And speaking of lawn tractors, my favourite wife wants one of these: http://www.avanttecno.com/www/global/machines/500-series/ as it can take care of both grass and snow, and so much more.
  17. This one: https://powerequipment.honda.com/snowblowers/models/hss724aw-hss724awd But we (read: I) need (read: want) this one: https://powerequipment.honda.com/snowblowers/models/hss928at-hss928atd This: http://www2.fiskars.com/Products/Gardening-and-Yard-Care/Shovels-and-Digging-Tools/Snow-Sled-Shovel-59 and this: http://www2.fiskars.com/Products/Gardening-and-Yard-Care/Shovels-and-Digging-Tools/Snow-Pusher-Shovel-60 are also used. We've had about 50-60cm snowfall since the picture was taken, so you can add 20-30cm depth.
  18. Every consumer product is, as far as I know, covered by 1 or 2 years manufacturer warranty and, if the product is meant to last 5 years or longer, 5 years "reklamasjonsrett". Reklamasjonsrett litterally translates as a right to complain and is a form of extended warranty. Everything is expensive in Norway. Except for snow at the moment. Which means off piste snowboarding. The picture was taken at the end of January, and we've had a lot more since then.
  19. But so have we. After several mild winters, it's like we've never seen this much snow before. Except when we were children that is, when the summers were long and sunny, and the winters were long and cold. Speaking of which, right now it's -24C outside. The cats refuse to go out and I follow their lead. Cheers, whatever you (and I mean all of you all) you choose to do or not to do this weekend.
  20. The page you requested does not exist Error code: 1S160/2 I've been rather busy with a heavy workload and numerous projects the last couple of months, so I haven't been paying attention to what my fellow Jaguar ownser have been up to. This is to say sorry if I should know this, but why isn't there a S-Type parts page any more?
  21. You don't know what snow is. We have close to 1.5 meters. And beside the road and the driveway, where the plow leaves it, it's more. But driving is not a big problem, as long as it's not deeper than, say, 10 centimeters or slick ice. We have studded tires up here, but a better limited slip differential or differiental locker would be welcomed. There is an issue with buildings, though. If the roof is too flat, it may collapse under the weight of the snow, which is just what happened to the King Bob's residence before I had the time to clear it. The result was a dented hood, dented roof and dented trunk. We're fully covered, so not a problem. Sad, but not a problem. But. The shop found that the sills need to be replaced because they were more rusted than the pictures showed before we bought it. And this is after the dealer said they fixed it after it was discovered at the end-of-warranty-test at the local test station. The law says that dealers are responsible for 5 years after sale, even if the car is old and even if the warranty is shorter or non existent. We shall see.
  22. Very useful. Thank you and thumbs up.
  23. I've so many other projects going on that I haven't yet bought one, but since we have three different cars, I'm seriously considering the Foxwell NT510, as other cars can be added to it. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=jaguar+s-type+obd2+scanner&_sacat=0 Mongoose can be found i.e. here: http://www.obdii.co.uk/car-diagnostic-tools-c-2/jlr-mongoose-for-jaguar-and-land-rover?zenid=p4c3cv188m55o7r8715a0kc5f3 And British Diagnostic can be found here: http://britishdiagnostics.co.uk/
