  1. Thanks Jon, I know it isn't the fob battery because I only replaced it 2 weeks ago ( got a message on the dash telling me the fob battery was low) Pretty sure its nothing to do with the key hiding behind anything in my pocket as i get the double beep when I open the car with the fob or the door handle . Strangely it doesn't happen when I open the boot manually though.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion Victor. I've just tried it and all the doors and boot remain locked , so it looks like there must be another type of fault. I'll phone the main dealer on Monday and see what they say. I was rather hoping it would have been one of the front door locks as they were both replaced a few months ago and would probably still be under guarantee.
  3. Hi guys Over the last 2 days, when I unlock the car either with the fob of door handle I get 2 beeps. when it locks and the mirrors fold in. Clearly the car is telling me that something is not quite right. Anyone else experienced this problem and. if so ,how did you fix it ? Hopefully not related but last year I started to get 2 beeps on locking and the mirrors would not fold in. I took it back to the main dealer as it was still under warranty and they found a problem with the two front door locks and they were both replaced.
  4. It's probably due to the age of your car then i suspect. I don't have a service book for my car. All service records are kept online accessible on the site I mentioned. If you just have a stamped service book all service and parts used would have been itemised via hard copy invoices and should have been retained by previous owners. I always retain all service documentation to give to a new owner but i suspect some owners or dealers do not retain or hand these over to new owners.
  5. If you go to osh.jaguar.com and enter your VIN number, it will give you the service history. I think it will only apply if the car has been serviced by a main dealer or Jag indy though.
  6. Hi Peter, Would you advise I use Eco plus as well as or instead of DPF cleaner. Or would this be considered overkill ?? Regards Ian
  7. Yes you can. I use Millers DPF cleaner in mine. One bottle will treat about 60 litre of diesel and costs about £8 a bottle. If you go on the internet you will find a few companies that supply it .
  8. On most alert systems , you adjust the volume to your preferred level whilst the broadcast is being relayed and then the alerts will play at that level going forward. This would/could therefore be set to a different volume to the radio.
  9. Broadly speaking the XF is an excellent vehicle. The only downside is ,in my opinion, if you are only doing short trips of 5-10 miles a day for instance, don't get a diesel version as the DPF ( diesel particulate filter ) will eventually need cleaning out or replacing which is quite expensive. I add Millers DPF cleaner to my fuel every second fill and so far I have da no problems in the 2 years I have owned the car. As an A road, motorway cruiser they are unbeatable so if you are going to be doing motorway driving as well as town driving you will be fine . If only short trips/town driving, go for a petrol engine. Having said all that the XF is a quality vehicle and a joy to drive. I get about 37mpg locally and 50 mpg on a long run from my 2.2 litre.
  10. Doesn't sound right to me and Iv'e never heard of this happening from anyone else. Certainly doesn't happen on my 2015 model.
  11. If the OP can't open the boot, he may not be able to open the bonnet either - unless he can open the car doors to be able to release the catch.
  12. I'm afraid I don't know , but a call to a Jag main dealer should sort it out for you.
  13. I think this is quite a common complaint in the XE/XF models. I think it is down to turbo lag and can be quite scary when you put your foot down at a roundabout for example and for a second or two nothing happens and then it will lurch forward. It's one of the things I don't like about these models. I don't know if it applies to any of the other models such as the X or S type.
  14. Mine idles at about 900/950 rpm.
  15. Are you buying the car from a dealer or private seller ? If a dealer, they should be tasked with sorting out the DAB issue before parting with the car. If you are buying privately, surely the seller would be able to advise on whether the DAB works or not and advise on Bluetooth audio capability ?
  16. Did you buy the car privately or through a dealer ? If you purchased through a dealer, they should replace the AGM battery under warranty. When i bought mine from a main dealer, the stop/start didn't work and I was forever getting the shutdown message as you are experiencing. ( it was failure of the dealer not to have spotted this problem during pre delivery inspection but that's another story ) I returned the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced something called a gateway which controls the stop/start and installed a new battery which rectified the stop/start feature and stopped the shutdown message. This message is displayed when the battery is low on voltage and will stop features such as the climate control working properly. If you bought privately I'm afraid it will be quite an expensive fix ( as is anything jag related !) and I would suspect the former owner did not reveal the stop/start function was not working as they probably knew it would not be a cheap fix. Keep us posted as to how you resolve this. Just re read your message and realised you have owned the car for 5 years so warranty would not be available. Did the stop/start work when you first got the car? If it is a recent problem , the replacement of the gateway and new battery should resolve your problem.
  17. My XF is a Sportbrake so may be different from yours if you have a saloon. In addition to the shark fin, I have inlayed wires in the rear side windows on both sides of the car. I presume that is the DAB arial. Have a look at your rear side windows and see if you can see any inlaid wires on your car.
  18. Is your arial not a shark fin type on the roof ? The cabling will be in the roof lining.
  19. My XF has the 2.2l engine and I get about 38mpg around town and about 50mpg on a long run. I also add Diesel Magic which is supposed to be good for keeping the injectors clean and Iv'e just started to add some Halfords DPF cleaner as most of my driving is short, town based journeys.
  20. Hi, I have the exact same vehicle in Indigo Blue. I can't quite make out the colour of yours - is it blue or black ? The keyless entry should definitely work with the key in your pocket so I suggest that if you bought it from a main dealer or indy, you should take it back to them to sort out. As with anything Jag related it might be too expensive to fix if you bought privately. Let us know how you get on if you do get it fixed.
  21. Iv'e just checked the boot floor of my 2015 XF Sportbrake and it is totally dry so it looks like you have been extremely unlucky. I note you say you have a spare tyre in the boot ?? I thought all that year models had the puncture repair kit and pump. Perhaps the original owner specified a spare wheel instead - I would have preferred that option in my vehicle !
  22. When I got my 2015 XF the stop/start did not work. I took it back to the dealer and they rectified the problem. It wasnt a problem with the main battery as this was new when I bought the car. The dealer replaced something called a gateway so you will need to take it into a jag specialist or dealer to get it rectified. I dont know what this will cost though as I had my work done under warranty - being a jag it wont be cheap! Personally I dont like the stop/start function and I always turn mine off. Keep us posted on how you get on. Good luck.
  23. That certainly doesn't sound right to me. I cant see why the vents would close when you turn off the A/C. If you don't get a response from a fellow 2008 XF owner on the forum, I suggest calling the service dept of a Jag main dealer or a Jag indy and see if they will answer your question .
  24. I dont have my A/C on all the time and the climate control still ventilates the car without the need to have a window open.
