I believe that if it were enquired into on the grounds of an acceptable plastic badge of some description that members would probably be prepared to commit to and or pay for the badges production up front of delivery. May be you should organise a poll or similar into the subject.

I believe that if the production of a badge as long as it were acceptable presentation, even if of plastic production, this would be welcomed by members. It is possible that members would be prepared, on site of the proposed badge, to order and pay up front to enable the production to happen. Perhaps you could organise a poll or similar to verify the popularity of the idea/proposal.

This is a great idea but not sure of production costs, copyright and also external metal badges may be considered illegal regarding any injuries due to sharp objects protruding from the front of the car.....typical example is the 'Leaping Cat' which could inflict fatal injuries if you happened to hit a pedestrian.
Back in the day it was quite common to see Badge Bars below the radiator grille on a lot of cars but a very rare sight now.....maybe due to the above reason?
However, we have redesigned the new Club Stickers to become a windscreen badge, similar to a Grille Badge replacing the side window stickers we used for many years.
Will certainly look out for something else we could use similar to a Grille Badge, maybe made from plastic thoughI believe that if it were enquired into on the grounds of an acceptable plastic badge of some description that members would probably be prepared to commit to and or pay for the badges production up front of delivery. May be you should organise a poll or similar into the subject.

Hi all wanting to charge the battery with ctech stop/start maintainer, car is outside is it ok to close the boot lid while charging as I need to lock the car, thanks
Glyn
I have an S-Type and have to do exactly the same thing. I do not have a garage and have a wire/lead from the house to the car. The boot lid will shut and I have put some extra tape around the cable from the house in the area that I trap in the boot lid seal. It does no harm to the supply lead. The other thing I have done, because my cable crosses over the path to our front door is purchased a rubber wire concealing strip that has yellow lines on it as a warning. I do not want the postman or anyone else tripping over the supply cable and hurting themselves or "seeing a profitable claim on me."

If they are not available (and I have never seen anything to suggest they are), is it possible that the club can look into acquiring some/having some made, for purchase. May be they would need to be paid for (I.E. Ordered) by members wanting them before they are manufactured. Could be that the club might consider asking the question if a source of manufacture could be found.

Ive recently bought a 2004 Jag S Type but the fuel usage seems to be very high. On a motorway drive from Southampton to London used around 20 Litres of Shell V Power & BP Ultimate / around 35.00 GBP of petrol on the way there and 35 again on the way back. What would you recommend to increase mpg and would this be considered typical?
Am assuming you are talking a petrol engine ??????????? . Also assuming litre cost of around £1.48, which would be about 24 gallons . Assuming Southampton to London is around 80 miles. That is therefore an MPG of 3.3 . WOW that is a lot of petrol. My 2005 (Facelift) 2.5 V6 does an average 23 -24 around and about locally and on a run like you describe I would expect it to return 26 - 27 MPG.
Assuming you do not have a VERY heavy right foot then you have serious fuel problems which need attention very quickly before some major damage is done.

Hi
Ive had mine icarsoft CR Pro about a year and half, it covers all manufacturers and it came with lifetime up dates, you just remove the sd card, plug it into your pc and run the iCarsoft MSDIAG PCClientKits and it updates.
work really well, I allways keep it in the car so i can view faults and reset them if im away from home,
its updated 3 times allready getting any extra features cam as v11.3, then updated to v11.45, now at v11.5, due another update any time
Ive never used it on my Jaguar, as Ive never had any problems, also the S-type R, had the ability to read codes and reset them on the touch screen in the hidden menu's
I've used it on fords, landrovers, fiat, mitsubishi, vauxhall, audi, vw , peugeot so far with no issues, it paid for itself a few time over now
some pics below
cheers
Joe
also they look like there still cover all manufacturers and still have lifetime updates, icarsoft cr pro on ebay link to ebat icarsoft cr pro
pictures are not the best but they give idea of cars covered
Joe
I think I will invest in one of these. Since I bought the plug in SDD diagnostics and the Laptop Widows XP to run it, I have never conquered the what I consider complicated technology of getting to use it.
Could, I suppose, hope sell the Laptop and SDD diagnostics. May be there is someone younger that me and more computer literate that would like to buy it. It might even sell if listed on this Forum.
Thanks again for your help. Best Wishes and Regards, John

hi
the v2 had some extra features, but is very similar,
but version 3 differences are
The first change of note is that the iCarsoft V 3.0 is able to conduct actuation tests and auto VIN identity checks whereas the V2.0 OB2 scanner could not. Also there are a number of extra special service functions that relate to a range of systems that include, Airbag crash data resets, Active damping control module tests, Adaptive speed control systems, Instrument cluster module tests
I have the Icarsoft CR PRO, which is also very similar, but covers all manuafacturers and lifetime updates
cheers
Joe

Having never conquered how to use the computer for it and the JLR SDD/IDS software I bought. I am wondering how detailed and efficient you find the Icarsoft CR PRO. Reading latest listings for them I am not so sure they cover all manufacturers and have lifetime updates. The companies website seems to be quoting limited manufacturers and the update is to be purchase for given number of years at extra costs.
The main point though is the efficiency and detail of the job that the equipment will do.
Thanks and Regards, John

Hi I am lookin g at a s type and it has an electronic handbrake.
I had a Jeep with one and I had trouble with it.
Does any one have one in their S type please.
Have you had any problems?
Thanks,
Julie.
Julie
My S Type has electronic handbrake. I have not experienced any problems with it. I keep my battery well charged and conditioned on a regular basis with CTEX MS 7.0. Well worth their money with the amount of problems that I see reported with low battery charge on S-Type`s.

Yes John your right.
I plan to raise the subject as soon as I can. Right now I'm up to my ears in too many other things my restoration work is progressing quite well but as soon as it's done that will be top of the list.
Max
Hope your restoration work progresses well and that you then have success with the lighting complaint with Sussex Constabulary. Well done for taking it up.

I worked on base for 10 years and tried reporting to base police who, more or less, told me to do as you said. Eventually I tried to contact the base comander, just when there was a change of command. I'm going to try again.
Max
Not surprised at the reaction of the base Police. They will not be interested as they have no jurisdiction outside of the base. You will only sytand any chance of action if it via Sussex Constabulary, who are responsible for the public highways beyond the base.
