Sat-nav update
Phill, You are right, Apple is over priced, over hyped, and overrated .But fair do's brilliant advertising , they have made most Apple users believe that they think differently, and on a higher level to the rest of us . Even my daughter falls for it and she's a doctor ( a psychiatrist ), needles to say she also reads the Guardian . They have no sens of humour either. I got banned form Facebook for this picture when they released a version of their Ipad a year or so ago. I thought it was quite funny, got threatened with legal action bless 'em . ATB, Trevor

Sat-nav update
Phil, Just a thought, if you car is 2012, shouldn't it be under warranty ? why not give the dealership a ring and see what they have to say. I does sound like your system s faulty if doesn't read properly read properly . The place where you get your music from sounds dodgy,it shouldn't have to convert it to MP3, it should be in that format anyhow . I will PM you a link for a small programme to download which is very reliable, and you will be able to see all my music on my computer . ATB, Trevor

Sat-nav update
Phil, I have never had any trouble with music on the USB stick , perhaps it is the quality of the downloads, mine are always 320 KPS , and i've never had any trouble with the system on Both Jags, both Astons, and Both BMW's. I would say there is a possibility your system has a fault . Apple and quality music is a contradiction, Ipod (total rubbish), and Itunes is possibyt the worst software I have ever come across . Wouldn't use Apple stuff even if it was free. Not used google, so can't comment . As I said, I have never had a problem with USB sticks in any vehicle i've had. ATB, Trevor

Owner of Jag for first time - XJ
Peter, This is true, but just go to show that the stealership lied when they told me the car had been serviced when I bought it last May, have been delving, and the car was actually last serviced October last year. So I will book it in to be serviced by my local trustworthy independent garage . I was loaned an XF 3 litre portfolio devils fuel car , when the Aston was in for it's usual monthly holiday. I was so impressed with it, that I said at the time, "The Next car I have will be a Jaaag" , didn't realise it would be as quick materialising, but i have now had two, and don't regret it . Best cars I have ever owned , the XJ Supersport, and the XKR. When I get the snide comments such as " Oh, a poor man's Aston Martin " , I just smile and say "Really? just shows how little you know!" Owner of Jag for first time - XJ
Welcome Scott, Don't trust the guff the stealerships spin you. Got an email yesterday from Jag offering me a £100 back if I got the car serviced at a dealership, reading the small print I had to meet one of these secret shopper type people after the service, report my findings, then get my hundred quid . Got the car in May (XKR), and was told it had just been fully serviced . It might just be coincidence, but when I got in the car this morning it said " Service required" You will enjoy the XJ a great deal, it is a fab car. Until recently I had a XJ Supersport (main pic on the gallery page) , it was brilliant in every way, the only reason I got rid of it was because "she who must be obeyed" said it didn't look like a proper Jag (like Peter's S type) , and the lanes around here are too small for the car . But saying that, I cannot fault it in any way, and you would have to go a long way to find a better large car . ATB, Trevor

XJ Blind spot monitor
Scott, As I said, if it isn't on you won't be missing much, as it loses it's affect. My XJ Supersport being a Jag directors car had every single extra going , three TV's (agree with Peter on that) Jaguar voice (also agree with Peter). Bower and Wilkins 1200 watt 20 speaker sound system (fantastic), double glazing, and best of all a 5 litre supercharged engine , which was miles faster than my Aston Martin DB9 . The XJ is a truly fantastic car and I'm sure you will be delighted with it . The only reasons I got rid of it was to stop the wife whining, as she said it didn't look like a proper Jag, and also it was too big for our cart tracks out here in the sticks ATB, Trevor

XJ Blind spot monitor
Scott, Had it on the XJ Supersport. Liked it at first, but you soon get used to it being there and don't take any notice of it . Don't have it on the XKR, but don't miss it. ATB, Trevor

Problem at the factory?
Peter, True . You just take it as read that MP's lie , but don't expect it from the Police . Off , off topic . Saw Fascinating Aida last night , sheer entertainment, try and catch them if they're up north near you ( These are the ladies I came up to Leicester to see when you were on grandchild watch) . valet code xf , how do i change it, also battery change on fob will it need resetting
valet mode allows the vehicle to be locked by a parking attendant, without giving access to the luggage compartment and glove box. It also prevents operation of the touch screen , to prevent access to telephone numbers and navigation addresses . The car can be started and parked in valet mode . You should be able to set up another code via the touch screen under "vehicle settings". If it is stuck in valet mode and the pin is forgotten, open the boot using the emergency key, this cancels valet mode ATB, Trevor

Problem at the factory?
Charlie, I'd heard you had a couple of lads round to build yours , Was a bit dubious of mine being built up North at first, but in all fairness Peter's friends did a good job, apart from I can't find how to cool the seats, only heat them. ATB, Trevor
