electric window fault
Hi Jacko, and welcome to the club. Sorry that there has not been a reply - possibly because members having been getting too wet in the UK weather! A sticky window can sometimes be cured by a spray of WD40. It works with my s type. Regards, Peter.

Touch screen inquiry
Hi Jimmy, I spent sometime looking at my touch screen to see if I could find something without success. That's life! Regards, Peter.

Touch screen inquiry
Welcome to the club, James. The touch screen is a bit like an engine - they both work on the ignition. Just press the Leaping Jaguar picture, and when you do it out of habit you will forget it. Just enjoy your Jaguar. Regrads Peter.

Jag X-Type Engine Problems
Welcome to the club, Liam. I am no mechanic, but I think you could be correct about the bearing going. I had an X type 2.5 AWD with a 2005 plate and it was very reliable and quiet, so I would look for a very good mechanic and get him to find out what the problem is. Regards, Peter.

Fault codes
Hi John, Look for an OBD2 code reader. You just plug it in to the socket on the right hand side underneath the dashboard. Regards, Peter.

Fault codes
Hi John, I forgot to ask one question. I should have asked you is the fault giving a problem with the engine -- poor performance etc. Or is there a warning such as "Restricted Performance" ? I don't think disconnecting the battery would help at all. I had an issue with my S type when the Message was "Gearbox Fault" and "Restricted Performance". My mechanic, who has been looking after my cars for 19 years, asked the question about car performance which was still perfect and his thoughts were "if the car was not performing well it looks like a big problem, but if it is performing well if could be that an old issue [I had used the manual gear system too much] is letting the OBD2 reader bring back the codes. The codes just needed erasing. I have a cheap OBD2 code reader which erased the codes. What you have had done seems to be the correct thing to do, but has it been done properly. If they erase the codes for you, the car should not give out the details of an old issue. Regards, Peter.

Fault codes
Welcome to the club, John. It appears that you are having a problem with your EGR valves. A quick solution is a Millers Additive to your engine -- Diesel Power Eco Max. I am assuming that your car is a 3litre Diesel If so, there are two EGR Valves. Let me know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

New member
Hi Chris, You have had some excellent information from Jim. I was thinking a bit about the garage and the problems I have had. My garage is not perfectly angled, as I have found out after 30 years. It is also 20 feet long but was not wide enough for my Rover Sterling , so I gave up, and wife's Toyota Yaris lives there now! I didn't even bother with my s type. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Pat. I think you will enjoy your Jaguar. The XJ is the Leader of the pack, as it were. Regards, Peter.

Another Newbie
Welcome to the club, Ged. I too wanted a Jaguar, particularly when I saw a friend getting busy with a Mk 1 and getting it fit for the road. That was in 1963! It took some years with Motor cycles, company cars before I got my first Jaguar. Bill Lyons, who was the Founder of Jaguar Cars, and also from Lancashire [like me] said that his Jaguar cars had Grace, Space and Pace, so don't worry about your XF which only has a top speed of 141 mph. What is more important is that your car has Grace! I have an S Type with a 2.7 Diesel [07 plate] which I have enjoyed for over 7 years - and which I intend to keep till I finish driving! [I also have my certificates from ROSPA and IAM]. My Jaguar knows the Trough of Bowland well, and my visit there this years was cancelled by the Corona Virus! Just continue enjoying your car. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Tom. I have had my s type for over 7 years and it is one go the most reliable cars I have ever had. Add to that the engine for a diesel is very quiet, the seating is very comfortable and the acceleration when you want it is rather good. As Bill Lyons said, Grace, Space and Pace! Regards, Peter. P.S. I am very keen on Jaguars and due to thirty years of company cars I had to wait a long time before I got a Jaguar. I even wrote a book about Jaguars!

NO Driver's Side Functions Work
Welcome to the Club, Everette, This problem is quite curious, and hopefully one of the members with electrical expertise will be able to assist I can only guess that it could be a fuse or another part of the electrical system has failed. I have never had this problem with my s type. Regards, Peter.

Restricted performance
Welcome to the club, Mike. It could be anything. You need and OBD2 core reader to give you an idea, A good garage would have one. Regards, Peter.

Oddly Equipped 2005 Jaguar X Type
Welcome to the club, Mark. I have never seen a sunroof on x types or s types. I had one on a Rover Sterling and never used it - it was a pain in the neck, just noisy. Regards, Peter.

Battery make advice please
I had a Varta and found it rather good. When I had to call out the AA when my Platinum battery failed after 3.5 years the AA Officer got a Bosch, and they are also good. Your choice bu don't get the cheapest one! Peter.

Newbie
Welcome to the club, Martyn. The s type is a very good car and IMO a future classic. A few odd niggles on a 14 year old car is not surprising - I have a 2007 plate 2.7D which has never had a serious problem in its 86k miles. Just enjoy your car and remember "Grace, Pace and Space." Regards, Peter.

Power Steering Problems
Hi Christian, and welcome to the club. At a guess I would say that the steering system needs replacing, as it has had a heavy hand or two on it. Regards, Peter.

Loss of power to near side headlights
Welcome to the club, Mike. I too have an s Type 2.7D SE - Great Car. I am no electrical expert -- there are several brilliant electrical experts in the club, and I know that you will get the correct advice. I would just guess that it is the conenections. Enjoy your s type. Regards, Peter. P.S. I was 83 once!

Oddly Equipped 2005 Jaguar X Type
I had a 2005 X type SE, and it did not have what we called a sunroof. To my knowledge they were not standard. My X type did have 17" rims, but I did not think they were standard, - I thought that the 16" was the norm. Peter.

Code for bluetooth for phone
Hi Fraser, and welcome to the Club. Is is the Radio Code you are looking for? If so either ask the dealer from whom you bought the car or take your VIN number to a Jaguar dealer and ask for the code. There are propably other ways of getting the number too. Regards, Peter.
