  1. Hi Steve, and welcome to the club.

    I also have an S type [2.7 diesel 2007.

I do not have a camera so no answer.

The S type does use that battery well as required but if I don't do a reasonable time on the road I have to give the battery a charge.  Over the last 9 years I have not had electronic problems but I have had three batteries.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  2. Welcome to the Club, Dom.

It is nice to see a Welshman in a Jaguar —  I did work and live in North Wales fo a nice period working in the Steelworks in Shotton.   I like Conwy too.

The Government made me to leave Shotton and go to Derbyshire and a few other places. My last place was 6 miles away from the  Jaguar factory that made your car - and mine.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  3. Hi Carl,

I had a problem with the key on my s type.  I had an examination a few days ago with and the issue about the performance was sorted out.  Then the keys started to fail and a new battery was needed and fitted but still the car was getting lower performance notwithstanding the new battery.

I know a very small but extremely good local business so I went to their 3 man office.  They felt that the key was a failure even thought it was starting the engine just opened by hand,  The leading engineer told be that there was nothing at all wrong with the engine  but the key was a 100% wrong.  I came away with 2 keys that were very different but vert good and the engine was as smooth as ever.

If you ever need a new key for your Jaguar look up DUPLICUT VEHICLE LOCKSMITHS [0121 354 1499] - unfortunately for you as they are in Sutton Coldfield.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  4. Welcome to the club, Mike  —  Not always like that.

I do quite understand what had happened and I would be quite annoyed myself/

I have always left my old S type with my son on our holidays but we have not had any since the covid rules, but now I will use a trickle charger.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  5. Hi Carl,

Giving the exhaust system some revs you will find that a diesels lower revs than a petrol engine.   My S Type 2.7 Diesel gives me 2,100revs f0r 70 mph, while my X Type 2.5 Petrol used to give me over 3,500 revs for 70 mph.

    Regards

    Peter

  6. Welcome to the club, Kev.

I have had the same with my S Type and done the same on the A 38.  I would advise a steady run on something between 45mph and 60 mph.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  7. Hi Peter,

We live in a big city and speed limits and sometimes have some poor drivers and think that Jaguar owners drive too slowly when they could go faster.  I have been told that I should go quicker when there is the space.  I have told them that I prefer to live longer. The 6th of June will see me at 88!

    Regards

    Peter.

  8. Welcome to the club, Peter.

I used to have a similar Jaguar and I found that the best way of improving fuel efficiency was to drive at a suitable speed.  I found that steady driving on good fuel gave me around 35 mph on an steady drive.

My X type was taken by two gentlemen who later was placed in a Royal House for 8 years. I never got my car back!

    Regards,

    Peter [ A bit older]
