Hi Donald and welcome to the club.

You could get one from eBay.  There are several.  I have a Leaper that was put one using an adhesive attached to it.

You don't need a template as far as I know but placing it needs to be correct.  Just have a look at my s Type 07 pate.As you can see is positioned  with he head of the leaper on the end of the bonnet.

The answer can be too easy in a way.

The disc for 2012 gives you enough information and there are several dealers who will sell you one for under £30.  Looking up the current place on Google can get you where you want to go.

I have used several companies — David Manners — Look at their website to get a telephone number.

There is also Jaguar Parts 24/7 07748  280772.

Bassnets - get website to the telephone etc.

I have used all three.

My s type had a "restricted performance" a few weeks ago.  After a few check ups and the fact that my electric key was not working at all I put the battery on my Ctek charger and left it overnight.  

The next morning the"Restricted Performance" disappeared and my key was working properly.

Batteries, even 3 years old ones, need a bit more attention

I am very glad to see that your Mum enjoys your car.  I wish my Mum and my wife's Mum were still there to enjoy my S Type  -  they are great cars. [Our Mums both died in 1981]

The x type is a good solid car as well as some style.

The seats do a usual job so careful lets them up and down.

I am no expert and my toolbox only carries an adjustable spanner and a lump hammer, so I would keep going gently  —  Bonny Mary of Argyll could help!
