  1. Looks rather good, Luke. Peter.
  2. Hi Trevor, I would be inclined to write to the Dealer from whom you bought the car, and indicate that you are unhappy with what they told you when the car was purchased. When I bought my S Type last July Stratstone assured me that the car had had a full service. It had also been given an MOT in the March and they did not propose to give it another. I insisted on a new MOT, which I got. Additionally, I had my mechanic look over it and he passed it as fully fit. Prior to the warranty running out I prepared a list of niggles and booked the car into Stratstone for a full written report on all matters, even down to tyre tread and brake pad wear. They rectified a minor problem I had with the climate control and regassed the system. I was well known for nitpicking with anything I bought and will continue to be so. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Colin, Someting elseI have thought about is DSC. DSC should always be switched on [unless you are a boy racer] and Cruise Control is unavailable if switched off. It could be that you have inadvertently switched of CC or that you have experienced a bit of slippy road . I inadvertently switched off DSC when putting on the seat heater the other day, so it is possible. Regards, Peter.
  4. My Code reader has stopped working for some reason. My mechanic's code reader works fine on my car, but it did cost over 5 times more. I need a similar car to mine to find out what is wrong with it I am thinking of getting another but I am looking for the most reliable I can find. Regards, Peter. p.s. I used to know Port Talbot quite well when I was employed. Old Steelworker!
  5. Hi Colin, The club is about exchanging experiences which usually assist. I bought a code reader [OBD2], but it stopped working for some unknown reason. Luckily I have not had to use it since I found out it had stopped working. The Jaguar main dealers will charge about £70 for half an hour to remove the message. Next time you are driving, I would also check your if Cruise Control is working. Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi Colin, I have not had this happen to me, but I have heard of it happening before. A suggestion is to check out the battery, as a slightly failing battery can play havoc with some of the less important electrical features. If the battery is getting old or is a little discharged things like cruise control, radio etc will not function properly. I had a problem with the rear demister, which was cured by putting the battery on charge for an hour. Meanwhile, some of our members might have had the same problem and will probably be able to assist. Regards, Peter,
  7. Welcome to the club, Jack. I am afraid I have little expertise in matters so technical, but there are quite a few members very knowledgeable in these matters who I am sure will give assistance. Regards Peter.
  8. Hi Andrew, I tried to get detailed statistics of the S type production on all models. A lot of them went to California where they loved them, although I did see one in Phoenix, Arizona. They were made during the Ford ownership and were mostly designed in Detroit, and Ford were not very good at the paperwork, being more concerned with engineering. Being a pensioner, I was more concerned with good mpg and an inexpensive road fund licence than I was for the exhilaration of the R model. At the same time, my S Type 2.7D is no slouch with incredible acceleration with the s button pressed down and both turbochargers cutting in. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Kenny, I didn't find anything that looked that suitable around Swansea/Neath. You are quite right about the small number of indies in South Wales. I was drawn to the Garage in Nantgarw by a mention of them on another Forum, by someone who said that they sent their Jaguars there for serviciing etc. The address is Cardiff Rd, Nantgarw, CF15 7SR. There is also another one that looks OK: Sterling Jaguars,Swffyd Rd, Crumlin. NP11 5DW. Regards, Peter.
  10. Welcome to the club, Andrew. The S type is a great car, and there are not many of the R models around. Regards, Peter.
  11. Hi Kenny have just been having a google around and come across a garage in Nantgarw, as well as a couple of others. They might be worth looking into. Peter.
  12. Welcome to the Club, Adrian. There are not many e types around and I look forward to the photos. And I think you will enjoy the Club. Regards, Peter.
  13. Hi Margaret, I have just had a look on eBay and you can get one for between about £25 tp £45. And I am quite sure you would be able to fit it yourself. Other than that, Euro Parts, David Manners group, or Rimmer Bros. Regards, Peter.
  14. Actually, it hardly rains in the West Country. It rains in Manchester and runs downhill towards the South. Peter.
  15. Hi Martin, Interesting seeing you Dad's old car. They had very little equipment fitted. My first Escort was 000459K and was a 1.3L in Metallic green. It was a company car and was changed every year and I had the same model till 2001 when some bright spark said we had to have the Morris Ital - an awful car, then it was Rovers. But we had also an Escort 1.3L estate and then the beautiful 1.6 EFi in Brilliant red with a black ragtop. But the S Type eclipses them all! Peter
  16. Hi Colin, Nice colour -- just as nice as mine --- identical. Don't they look great in the sun? You get more of it in Cornwall. Regards, Peter.
  17. Welcome to the Club, Andrew. I think you have a good buy there. And I hope you enjoy the club, too. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Colin, Chris is quite right. There is a topic on the Jaguar Owners Lounge which lists independent garages that are recommended. Euro Car Parts is a good source as is The David Manners Group Regards, Peter.
  19. Good Luck, Stefan. That is a very interesting project. Peter.
  20. Welcome to the Club, Mick. There should be no problem if you are used to getting oily hand. Just use the best quality oil as recommended and a good filter. Then just enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards Peter.
  21. Can't do, Kenny. Tickets bought, wife made plans etc etc, But I am thinking about a good venue for a Christmas meet! Peter.
  22. That's it ,Nev. Just the same as changing any other CD. It will read the disc for a minute or two and then you have the maps uprated. Regards, Peter.
  23. Hi Craig, I don't know anyone with the 2.1 V6 x type. But I do know that I had heard nothing adverse about that engine. It is not as quick, and it is not an all wheel drive, but a little more economical. If you get it with the SE standard spec plus a few optional extras [satnav etc] you will still have Jaguar luxury and a good drive. And there is nothing wrong with the few Mondeo bits that are used -- it is done all the time by car manufacturers. Regards, Peter.
  24. Welcome to the Club, David. I would have said that there are a lot of helpful members here, but you have already found that out! Regards, Peter.
  25. I would love to go but unfortunately we have visitors that day. Peter.
